This was originally meant as a compliment to McDavid and is classic Oilers form you guys are freaking out in defense.

The world isn’t out to get you.
You were talking about how bad the Oilers are without them and then added this gem:
"Him and to a slightly lesser extent Drasaitl are a two man team carrying around bags of garbage with a few cardboard boxes (Kane, Hyman)"

As compliments go, I dunno that one was pretty backhanded. But I'm sorry my sensitivity offended you, my good samaritan.

Apologies on behalf of Oiler fans, we will accept this great compliment and simulataneous massive diss to our team. McDavid is all that matters, we don't really care about the Oilers. Only McDavid.

Lmao, if someone said the same thing about the wings you'd be all over them, but don't worry, it's a compliment to Larkin and Seider that Walman, Kane, etc are just trash cans and Raymond is cardboard. The team has extremely good underlying stats, that doesn't happen from two players. It didn't happen when Drai won a hart and it didn't happen last year when McDavid scored 150. Players like Desharnais are actually pulling some of their own weight..

I'm happy for the Oilers and i hope the start of the season made them eat a slice of humble pie. While i don't want to take anything away from the Oilers (They are red-hot) they are also getting kinda lucky with the fact that both LA and Vegas have had a really bad start to the new year.

McDavid is building a strong case for another Hart trophy win, considering how of a train wreck the Oilers were at the start of the season.

Let's be honest they were always going to be a playoff team. It was ridiculous how poorly they started the season, given the talent on the roster. It almost felt like they were playing to get Woodcroft fired or something and then picked it up as soon as he was gone.

Wait, you don't consider your team being called bags of garbage and cardboard boxes a compliment? WTF is wrong with you?

On HF there are narratives that just won't go away.. the Oilers are 19 absolute losers, Connor McDavid and maybe Drai is a top 30 player on another team is one of them. The other is that Bouch can't even skate backwards and couldn't stop a peewee house league team breakout and ALL his offence is a product of McD.

Other products of McD
Nurse, Bouch, Skinner, Knoblacuh, Kane, Hyman, Drai, RNH, VD, the water boy and the 50/50 draw.

It is better than I thought it'd be today! Still a tight race.. Seattle is also killing it. The LA collapse is a bit surprising but I think they have a great team and will return to normal (and their normal is very good).

Flames are on a nice run too. Part of me is cheering for the Yotes too. Still a lot of hockey to play but I'm happy the screen cap doesn't have us in 31st place with a .270 winning percentage.lol

No way we keep this pace going and we are also due for a regression.

Make the playoffs and make some TDL acquisitions and swing for the moon.

Sean Walker seems like a good target. So does Vej or Mrazek!

How we’d the team producing when McDavid was injured again? I can’t remember

Maybe Vegas,LA and Vancouver are lucky that the Oilers had a historically horrendous start

McDavid is so dominant, when he is on the top of his game the Oilers are almost unstoppable.

As long as the other 3 lines tread water McDavid scores them to victory.

2 things could derail them:
1 - Mcdavid gets stopped in the playoffs
2 - Skinner has another awful stretch where he cant stop anything

I mean that kind of works both ways no? Vegas and LA are lucky Edmonton was absolutely horrible to start the season.

It's a loooong season, teams will have ups and downs. Edmonton's are just extreme. They're not as good as this run but not as bad as the start of the year.

FTR.. I love the Avs.. they are exactly how a team should be built and I thought their Cup Run was a work of art. They didn't even make the playoffs last year because of injuries to a few key guys.

This whole 'your team would suck without McD/Drai' is exhausting. We pay them over 20 million for a reason. I don't bitch about MacK and Makar on the same team and I'd rather have a elite C/D combo then 2 elite C''s combo. Happy for them to have such a dynamite combo.

Another team I think that is great is the Knights... beautifully built. They also missed the playoffs recently. You know why? Their best players were hurt.

Amazing troll by Mcdavid. Mails it in for the 1st 30 games and will still end up on top in points at season end.

Didn't the Avs make the playoffs and play Seattle last year and lose to them?

my bad.. thought they missed them altogther.lol
All good, I questioned my sanity for a second there too... Lol. :) Generally agreed with the rest of your post. Colorado is in my top 3 cup favourites list precisely because they have a well balanced line-up with superstars in every position.

The avs made the playoffs last year but lost in round 1 to Seattle.

I'm clearly a dumbass.lol

Should've said they barely made the playoffs and went out early as defending Cup Champs. A not 100% Makar also makes a big difference. No Rantanan too.
