At this point I'm just hoping we get hot at the right time. Jekyll and Hyde ass team. Look like they could sweep anyone some nights, look like they'd get swept by the Sharks other nights. I don't get it.
Yeah. They sure are a tough nut to crack these days.

I don't mind the losing, I actually think it may help us in the long run as it exposes some weaknesses that need to be addressed. However, am I the only one getting pissy with McDrai being on the same line?
I think they have the offensive power to win some of their games, like the Flames one last night. Bad puck luck again maybe. But defensively, yeah, right now they kind of suck for some reason.

Pretty sure 4-5-1 ... .450 and good enough for 20th in the leauge.

I'd also say that is fair as we've played like absolute shit for stretches of every game. Specfically first periods. Not like we are getting goalied here... we just kind of suck right now.lol
In my opinion, they are getting goalied. But yeah, they need to be better in the first in order to have any success this season.

They were too aggressive and rough against Calgary. They should calm down and focus on hockey a bit more contrariwise to last night's game.

^^^ The Leafs generally have a very favorable schedule, that's kind of a weird thing to say.

Edmonton has the same record as the Canucks over the last 10.
Only one of those teams is in danger of teetering into wildcard contention, though.

I'm aware that this is shaping up for the Oilers to spank the Canucks in the first round. Hubris, etc, etc.

Imo too many of the Oilers were getting caught on the wrong side of the puck and ended up chasing. It’s okay for McDavid to cheat a bit but not the other players.

I like McD’s answer here about not scoring much lately.

And if he wants to help his team anyway he can…right now it wouldn’t have anything to do with goals or assists. He needs to get back to prioritising his defensive play a little more.

At some point, Knoblauch has to put the foot down and put McDavid in the press box if he doesn't start putting in an acceptable effort in his own zone. He needs to cut out the floating and prove that he actually cares about winning.

Another game in hand won :)

Vegas should save them from that.

Last 10 games for Nucks, Knights and Oil. We're actually the best of the 3 in the last 10. Where is the shit on Knights or Nucks thread?lol

Bouch with 3 points
Tied for D goal lead with 15
.ppg

Nice comeback win. Keeps us out of the wildcard spot.

For fun... Bouch was on for 1 bad goal against and he looked like shit. He was also integral for 3 goals and a big part of the win. All I read about is the 1 GA but not the 3 GF.

All 3 teams need to get their shit together ASAP and vie for 1st place in the Pacific.

I'm normally not one to care too much about home ice advantage/matchups come playoffs - but this year in the Pacific I think it'll make a gigantic difference. I'd much rather play a wildcard team than either of those 3 teams in round 1.

Vegas - defending champs, such a well-oiled playoff beast. Who would want to play them in round 1?
Oilers - peak McDrai going for a cup, do you really want them in round 1?
Canucks - Insane season, led all year, some great individual playoff performers from a few years ago....scary team to face in round 1.

Canucks have a pretty solid lead in the Pacific right now, but with 4 games in hands Oilers can definitely still catch up. Even Vegas could, technically.

It sounds trite, but they are both what they are at their best, and what they are at their worst. If you're an Oilers fan, I think you just cross your fingers that the pendulum is swinging in the right direction when the post-season begins. A favourable first round match-up might go a long way.

I can't see a scenario where Knights or OIl catch the Nucks. They are struggling but are clearly a juggernaut. LV is amazing but very injured right now and have to use up their LTIR space to get someone (I'm told this will be hard because they are low on assets?).

Oil have just been inconsistent and I have no idea what we are. Currently, with our D and G I'd say we may be an ideal opponent for the better teams. Play us physical, get us pissy and get Stu nervous. Calgary did a masterful job of it 2 days ago.

I'd like to add though that Dallas and LA both have awesome teams and would be a nightmare for anyone in round 1.

Then you got the Avs who could win it all. The Jet's who could also win it all.

The West is brutal. At best. Maybe the final wild card spot won't be a nightmare opponent.. maybe. Looks like one of St. Louis, Nashville or Minny. That might be the only matchup I couldn't see going to 7.

They really aren't.

They don't have a ton in the way of prospects, but they have virtually all their picks intact for the next three years. If they want to make a splash, they can.

That's what I see but the LV fans have made it clear they are in trouble of not making the playoffs and this ltir situation is a disaster.

I'd also add . They can take on cap and get some good players that are overpaid that don't have trade value due to playoff teams not having cap. They can take on a good cap dump and let them go in summer.

Curious how it plays out.

I don’t think they’re in “real” trouble of not making the playoffs. It’s just a crutch to diminish the fact that they will be, again, exploiting the LTIR loophole.

And I started with I don't think it's illegal and applaud the teams that take advantage of it.

However.. it was made clear... Losing Eichel and stone will cost LV the playoffs and there is nothing they could do with that LTIR space between now and TDL.

They're just being dramatic.

They have a middling difficult schedule and they're 9 points up on the Blues and Wild. They'll be fine.

I do think the Kings catch them though and getting a magically healthy come playoff time Vegas team in one of the wildcard spots will be a nasty test for the Canucks, Jets, or Stars.

When I saw the news my first reaction is that the Oil are f***ed.lol. They will be a nightmare in playoffs.
