Yeah normally I wouldn’t care about finishing first in the Pacific but a healthy Vegas is scary. Avoiding them in round 1 would be huge. Not that LA is an easy opponent either, just prefer to miss Vegas.

Agreed. Having one of the best third lines in the league is a big advantage. Garland at 7.6% shooting percentage and Blueger at 9.3% don’t see to be scoring on one out of every 5 shots but Joshua is 17.9%. The overall shooting percentage is solid but not spectacular.
Nice try though.
Suter, Hoglander, Lafferty. Sure all those guys will continue to shoot 20%. Its the system for sure.

Oilers will just have to rely on old fashioned systems that don't create shooting percentages of 20%.

I like the Oilers chances with relying on out possessing and out shooting opponents on a regular basis. Its outdated, but it has proven to be pretty reliable in the past.

You can believe anything you want. ;)
As an aside.. we do have a bottom 6 problem. They score when Gagner is in and they don't score when Gagner is out. Small sample size but that seems to be Sam's big gift. We have 7 guys that are good for 6 roles. Curious how it goes going forward.

Not sure what they would trade for since they already have perennially leading scorers McDavid and Draisatl who in the two games against LV and LA combined for a total of 1 goal. If Knoblauch can't figure out how to get those two to light up the scoreboard in big games, I doubt that adding some $3 million randomly-available player is going to help much.
Draisaitl was having a hell of playoffs until Pietrangelo tried to forcibly remove his hand because he's a pissy little baby hiding behind the guise of "leadership", just saying.

McDavid and Draisaitl are 3rd and 4th in playoff points per game in the last 40 years, only behind Gretzky and Lemieux. They show up in big games.

I prefer to rely on having better bottom six players. But you do you.
its not a preference, its out of necessity because your top 6 isn't as good

Our top 6 is a Ferrari, yours is a Maserati and its only a matter of time before yours crumbles when it has to go over 9000rpm

I prefer the body builder analogy. Your team is like Arnold Schwarzenegger from the waist up (top 2 end guys) and Pee Wee Herman from the waist down.

I mean the Oilers understood that Pietrangelo was the key guy to target so they were cheaping him and he fed them their own menu and then went to get the Cup, becoming the first player ever to lead two different franchises in ice time to the Cup (each team's first Cup). The notion of putting Draisaitl and Pietrangelo in the same sentence for clutch is hilarious. One folds, one is a repeat champ. One trots the other for a walk.

Pietrangelo is much more important than Drai. Drai looks slower and more lazy every game I watch.

It's going to bother a lot of people when the Oilers are one of the last four teams standing in the playoffs again and could be playing in the Finals in four months.
If they make it that far than the stars aligned and good for them. Might be one of the worst teams to make it to the finals but good for them
