Oilers are good at hockey again: Back in the plofs

Is the deadline tonight? They will probably get him some help so he does not play more than 60sh games. I think he will play a tad more.

Edmonton has 8 back to backs coming up.
and it's worth noting that while Cal Pickard hasn't played a lot, he's been good in the games he's gotten into.

Guy has a .915 and a positive GSAX with a 5-2 record. He's not a worldbeater and we don't need him to be, but he's been fine. They'll probably see how he plays more frequently and if he struggles during the back to backs they'll make a move.

Not to mention, the Oilers outplayed Vegas the entire series. Adin Hill standing on his head, and Skinner playing terrible is the reason VGK won. Credit to them for sure, but there's no way in hell anyone, especially Vegas could have expected Hill to get as hot as he did. If they did, he wouldn't have been their 3rd option in net when entering the playoffs.
This isn't really true. Hill stood on his head for sure, but Eichel walked all over us too, as Woody had the wrong matchups out there for him. It wasn't just the goalie duel that killed us, they also played really well. We didn't completely outclass them like you are suggesting.

Why not. Get Skinner some help. Its cruel not to.
Pickard is 5W - 1L with a .915 save percentage. The help might be here, they need to play Pickard more to see what we have in him.

This thread was so much more active and entertaining with the “ cup or bust” headline when the trolls came in droves to kick Oilers fans down on the ground. Good times.

It was so much more fun, too.

After the state that bum Holland left Detroit in I receive great joy watching the team he constructed in Edmonton fail. Sorry, Oilers fans. You guys are typically decent folk.

Those two or three Canucks posters have gotten awfully quiet once their certain opinions turned out to be very wrong--again.
Some even ceased to exist...

16 games is an amazing streak no matter how you slice it. The most impressive part is that they’ve been winning with sound defensive play instead of all out offence. Going to be a handful for any team in the playoffs!
Great to see so many Canadian teams doing well again. Let’s get the rivalries going again!

Eichel played great against the drai line I think. Vegas broke our system down.

Edmom still took the lead in every game and screwed it away

If Vegas breaks the streak we'll never hear the end of it.
Why. They are a good team. Streak can't go forever. Trolls will always be trolls. They already beat Vegas once. Then we get Anaheim lol

I've played enough Sekiro to know that Gourds are to be used for fights, not fought against. Good decision by McDavid.

I used to always think these were Gourdes...

But it turns out they are Gorgs lol Young ears misheard all those years....

Guys like Deharnais looked bad last playoffs, now the guy is a key PKer and looks like he has done a 180 in his role.

Bouchard has basically rivalled Quinn Hughes. Playing better defensively than him and a tad worse offensively. Evan Bouchard's gone 16 games without being a minus after a game, which dates back to December 21st. He's +18 in those past 16 games, which is 3rd best in the entire league in that span

Skinner has surpassed Demko right now and he is only in his 2nd year. Looks like McDavid and Drai are starting to heat up. Too bad this break has come now.

Rust is the reason they could lose the next game.

So many different stories this year. Canucks turnaround, Winnipeg being a top team, Matthews pacing to 70, Oilers with 2 big winning

So what you tryna say is Bouchard is on Hughes and Makar’s level this season? I get every fanbase has these type of guys but all y’all Oilers fans gotta ship this mans out

Right now he is probably right behind Hughes in Norris votes, but playing better defense while Hughes is having a great offensive year. Metrics all agree

The city of Calgary must be in shambles right now
They have accepted their fate, but they are in shambles about Edmonton. They do so many mental gymnastics over on their other site where they all hang out

They have had a thread disparaging Edmonton since 2004 or so. They have a massive complex. It goes one way

They have always been the red headed step child in the relationship

You have Bouchard over Makar in the Norris rankings right now?
I screwed up it would be Makar, Hughes, then Bouchard for me right now

In terms of Hughes and Bouchard, voters always take the higher point getter. Defense isn't their most impotent trait if two guys are close. Bouchard has turned the offense down and is playing very good defensively

I'm just talking about how well he has been playing the last two plus months. I'm not saying he would win lol

It's Makar’s to lose for the foreseeable future
We can only go by what you post, and your post has Bouchard as a finalist for the Norris. He's having a great season, but that hyperbole invites the trolls, and I would like to see the thread chronicling this historic win streak to stay open.

When do the true Canucks return? You know, the one that we see every year but this one?

Holland is a dummy, but that trade might be the best trade the league has seen in the past three years. We got a top pair defenseman for a guy who was replaceable internally, and two good futures pieces (1st and Reid Schaeffer) who are years away from contributing.
Holland acquired Kane, Hyman , Ekholm, promoted Skinner. Hired Knobber.
Went toe to toe with Stanley Cup winners in 2022 and 2023.
His Oilers are a Stanley Cup contender and have won 16 straight games. A perfect month of January.
If he did that in Toronto he would have a statue, keys to the city, and the books would be going to print as we speak.

Holland also traded Bear for Foegel (Who is on pace to double his career best numbers). He resigned McLeod instead of Kostin which appears to be a smart decision.

He's made alot of good moves. The rest is up-to the Oilers.
