Oilers are good at hockey again: Back in the plofs

Oilers should trade for Jake Allen. Would be great support for Skinner.
3.9 mill is a lot and he has a M-NTC and Oilers are usually on those.lol I'd be fine with him though.

He'd have to be basically free and Habs wouldn't get a good offer at all. Next year he makes more than the starter Monty. Primeau is doing totally fine so Habs management probably would love to trade him.

When we were trash I saw a lot of proposals for Allen and it was stuff like our 1st for him. That isn't even close to reality IMO. Kind of like how Mrazek was a great trade acquisition when he was going to be UFA. Now that he's signed for 2 years (also around 3.9 mill) it's no longer as good a trade target.

You tell me. You’re the insecure fan posting every day about the Canucks and making lame excuses.
You ok? You talking about me posting about Vancouver having a chance at going all the way on the mains yesterday? lol

You need to look in the mirror lol. You guys get too sensitive over words like PDO and shooting %. I have not mentioned PDO once since a fan cried to a mod.

Shooting % though, I will mention that. Canucks haven't hit their slide yet

Top 5 offensive teams in the NHL. On those 5, we have 8 shooters at 20% or more. Canucks have 6 of them.......

I seldom say anything nice about oilers fans because most (not you are A-holes) a large contingent of leaf fans (divine especially) use goaltending as their excuse all the time. Even worse they flip -flop on who their #1 is to justify it.

When Sammy is on he's the #1, when Jones was on he was and somehow Woll and his tiny sample size became the defacto #1 after he was injured because he certainly wasn't at the beginning.

The leafs are a soft, lazy team that because of the flat cap and poor choices have massive roster turnover every season with good players replaced by worse players, rinse and repeat.

The oilers have a shit GM there is no denying that but they have a guy, sometimes two that can carry a team on their back. I give full props for their turnaround and as for the 16 straight sure they have only faced two teams in the top 12 during that but as the leafs constantly show, bad teams can still be a challenge.

But and flame away oilers fans, I think going in to the playoffs with Skinner likely exhausted and a defence and bottom six that hasn't done well against good teams is a recipe for disaster.
There isn't a top team in the west that is so entirely dependent on 1 or two players.

We have seen what an average #97 entails for you guys and if Skinner regresses or gets hurt, it's over.

Kenny boy somehow without really any good chips to use and the fact a lot of players refusing to waive for Edmonton needs to have one hell of a TDL and get a good goalie and a top 4 dman.
If Perry is the best he does I don't think it's enough, even if fully healthy.
#97 has already been pedestrian offensively during this very streak by his standards. Oilers have kept winning off a strong defense.

Also Skinner getting hurt or regressing would hurt the team? What clairvoyance is this, a team losing their starter would be in trouble?

I agree didn't take cap into consideration tbh. I'd be happy with a 3rd for Allen. Probably settle for a 4th. Maybe even a 5th lol.

I also think these players could be of interest to oilers. Could possibly package deal a few guys:

- Savard
- Armia (he's been good since his call up and played great with Perry in 2021)
- Evans

Nothing crazy here and I don't know the oilers lineup to a T but I could see any one of these guys being a slight upgrade for the oilers. So maybe Allen+Savard for ex.

From the Habs perspective I think oilers are Habs best trading partner. Bundle these guys up and get something decent for a team that could use them. And oilers wouldn't have to pay through the roof either

Yesterday? No. I’m talking about you posting on the mains multiple times on every single Game Day Thread whining about Vancouver being lucky or winning because of the refs.
You are either very young or very insecure.
The Oilers have a great team this year. Just enjoy them.

The one I'd want is Xhekaj in our 3RD spot! He's Czech too. But I mostly like that he can punch a face. Could come in handy in a playoff series as our toughest players are also in key roles... Nurse and Kane. And now we have Perry so I expect us to have to fight more since he pisses off entire teams at a time.lol

Every fan base has them (Three On Zero, MoneyHandMonahan).

You just tune them out...

that but as the leafs constantly show, bad teams can still be a challenge.
Canucks losing to difficult opponents like the Blues and Blue Jackets.
Jets losing to difficult opponents like the Flyers and Leafs.
Bruins losing to difficult opponents like the Penguins and Coyotes.
Avalanche losing to difficult opponents like the Habs and Blackhawks.

Friedman said the teams did have a deal earlier in the year that fell through. Think Edmonton changed their mind

Little do they know, when they say this, the Oilers also "peaked" to end last year lol. They had a ridiculous run to end last year. I don't even remember what it was.

They just don't peak at the right times. Maybe next year they can peak to begin the season? Then we will hear how they are peaking wayyy too early.

I fully expect the Oilers to start another 5+ game streak after they end this one

I would probably have died from an aneurysm years ago if I were an Oilers fan. Just when the fans were ready to fire this roster into the sun they turned around and sucked them back in. Again. But hey, who is to say this isn't the year they do some real damage in the playoffs.

I've said this several times here but it is important to look beyond the 16 game streak. The better defensive play is not just a recent phenomenon. Personnel-wise the big addition was Ekholm. Since he came the Oilers are now 47-17-2 with a goals against average of 2.73 even with the absolutely disastrous 12 game stretch where both ekholm and McDavid were obviously hobbled. Since that point Skinner has a personal record of 37-10-2 with a sv% of .913. And in that stretch were a lot of wins against very good teams in the heat of a playoff fight. Moreover, there have been a lot of other improvements defensively not the least of which are the significant steps forward taken by Bouchard and the far improved play of Nurse now that he and Ceci have fewer and easier minutes.

Structurally, the Oilers current system is also likely to significantly reduce the type of chances that Vegas exploited in the playoffs. And even a modest improvement in that regard could have resulted in a very different outcome in that series.

I am also pretty sure that every Oiler fan recognizes that the goaltending situation could easily go sour and there is a reason to be concerned. But there are no teams in the league that don't have question marks or that would not be hurt by even one key injury. And frankly I don't think it is true that the defense as is much of a liability as one might guess from this and from other threads.

I don’t go on Vancouver threads because I don’t give a crap… you seem to always be on Oilers threads….

Guys like Deharnais looked bad last playoffs, now the guy is a key PKer and looks like he has done a 180 in his role.

Bouchard has basically rivalled Quinn Hughes. Playing better defensively than him and a tad worse offensively. Evan Bouchard's gone 16 games without being a minus after a game, which dates back to December 21st. He's +18 in those past 16 games, which is 3rd best in the entire league in that span

Skinner has surpassed Demko right now and he is only in his 2nd year. Looks like McDavid and Drai are starting to heat up. Too bad this break has come now.

Rust is the reason they could lose the next game.

So many different stories this year. Canucks turnaround, Winnipeg being a top team, Matthews pacing to 70, Oilers with 2 big winning streaks, etc .
