Yea that’s what a lot of people seem to miss. Ridicule the Oilers schedule due to easy teams but their own teams lose to them.
I guess my only point here with the streak is that I don't see the Oilers separating themselves from the rest of the contenders, because they haven't really played against them during this stretch. Some people in the media seem to think that they are now once again the cup favourites. They are a good team, but still in the same category as Vancouver, Vegas, Colorado, Winnipeg, Dallas (when it comes to the West).

But were they done on a buttesoft schedule like this?
Canucks had a pretty buttsoft schedule in Jan and still lost to the Blues twice and the Blue Jackets. And they are considered the super team of this season.

One hundred percent. They aren’t a 2002 Wings team, they are just working well defensively and offensively and the entire team has bought in.

I don't think there is really any team that has legitimately separated themselves per say. I agree. I think you can say Vegas and COL b/c they just won, so that gives them a pass and they are very good when healthy.

One giant winning streak isn't making Edmonton some #1 contender. I think they can contend tough and they are flawed like other teams. They will probably make some upgrades.

Anything can happen in the playoffs.

By the Vancouver media maybe lol.

For me, there are no clear top contenders this season. A bunch of decent/good teams, but no clear cut favourites. Makes it interesting.

Oh look at that went from no disrespect from your first post to this petty little clapper. Everyone knew what you were doing with your original post don't try to play the victim cause everyone saw through your stupid attempt.
If you want to take it as an insult go ahead lol. Punch a wall.

Who said that the Oilers are the Cup favorites? There is no such thing. Is that what you are crying about? The only team that is winning the Cup is the one that wins 16 games in the playoffs and they haven't started yet.

Did I tag anyone? No I didn't, because it's not the discourse in this thread. It's the media hype by SN and TSN on the subject.

Edm with 24 wins in 27 games yet "only" 9th in point percentage. That's wild. Boston leading the pack despite losing their top two centers leading up to the season.

The Oilers are really in a village burning mentality, though. What they managed to push through and rise near the top this quickly allows them to have a breather before the playoffs, they're gonna be a scary bunch.

We have also played the least games out of any team.

Hype doesn't win a Cup. Sorry that the media is hurting your feeling so much. That is no excuse for posting nonsense. A 16 game winning streak is amazing, that's why it's only been done a few times in NHL history.

I'm not disputing the streak itself. Most of the good teams will have a stinker against a bad team eventually. And the NHL is so balanced, that even the bad teams can win against the good teams and it's not that big of a shock. So the Oilers being able to handle their business is pretty good.

Congrats on the winning streak! At the same time, as a reminder to everyone, the teams they have beaten on this schedule:

Nashville
Chicago
Columbus
Calgary
Seattle
Toronto
Montreal
Detoilet
Chicago
Ottawa
Philadelphia
Anaheim
Los Angeles
San Jose
New York Rangers
New Jersey

That's a lot of trash and non playoff teams. I think the Oilers are the best team in the league at this moment, but they are also not separated from the pack of other contenders.

Hey cool, 10/16 against teams currently in the playoffs.

I didn't know our schedule was tougher than average.

No one in Edmonton really cares that much about this streak. The only thing neat about it is you might only get to see your team do it once in a lifetime. You probably care more about this streak then most Oilers fans. People in Edmonton and even the team only care that the Oilers are winning and climbing the standings because this season is about trying to win the Cup.

No, you're just coming into blatantly troll, by downplaying it. We're here discussing the achievement itself. Not the cup, not the playoffs but you keep interjecting with hypothetical counterpoints that are quite frankly, stupid.

It's cool seeing the lazy analysis by the worst people you know. "Mehhh...buttersoft schedule...mehhhh." They don't even stop to take a look at the teams that those buttersoft teams have beaten this year. The dregs of the league can beat and have beaten the league's top-tier teams. The point is that teams don't win this many games in a row.

It doesn't mean that the Oilers are a shoo-in for the cup. It means that this streak is amazing and people trying to downplay it are the worst people you know.
