Okay, this is what I was wondering myself. It seems like they've had the easiest schedule playing a ton of bottom feeder teams lately.
keep hearing that about so many teams ......ya know why ? Because there are "a ton of bottom feeder teams in the NHL"
Even the bottom feeders are feeding on the other bottom feeders.

Play offs can't get here soon enough

BTW...how many other teams have won 15 straight games .......allowing two or less goals the last 13?
Bottom feeders or not.

Oh wow, he really showed us…

Might convenient to ignore wins against WPG, TOR, CAR, PHI, VGK and the NYR when you consider there was an 8 game win streak before this one.

Edmonton is the one displacing those teams and knocking them down a group when you consider they literally started at last in the league.

coming from a guy who eats a lot of crow that's pretty funny

The Oilers have a top notch goaltender. One who also happens to be huge and can handle a heavy work load. Yikes.

If that doesn't worry the rest of the league.......it should!

Thank you for giving the Canucks difficult opponents like the Blues and Blue Jackets so they couldn't streak.
Thank you for giving the Jets difficult opponents like the Flyers and Leafs so they couldn't streak.
Thank you for giving the Bruins difficult opponents like the Penguins and Coyotes so they couldn't streak.
Thank you for giving the Avalanche difficult opponents like the Habs and Blackhawks so they couldn't streak.

Maybe the other top teams should start beating on shitty teams.

Does the fact that the Oilers beat the Knights, Jets and Hurricanes on the previous 8 game win streak that immediately pre-empted the 15 game winning streak count at all, or are we just moving the goal posts around to fit the narrative?

They've been the no.1 team in the league for more than 2 1/2 months now at this point (Nov. 10 onwards). Woodcroft basically got himself fired with the loss to San Jose on Nov. 9, they played one game against Seattle where he was dead man walking and then Knoblaugh was hired.

Points percentage from Nov. 10, 2023:

1. Edmonton Oilers .813 (32GP)
2. Winnipeg Jets .742 (33 GP)
3. Vancouver Canucks .686 (35 GP)
4. Colorado Avalanche .681 (36 GP)
5. Florida Panthers .671 (35 GP)

As I said before, the true Oilers will show up after the allstar break when they have a brutal schedule with 9 back to back games and face more competitive teams. I'll predict right now we'll have fire Holland threads up and trade a goalie to the Oilers proposals again.

The Oilers have been a 104+ point team the previous 2-3 seasons and are back on/ahead of that pace again this year, stop acting like you're talking about a team that had like 85-92 points as a norm the past few years.

They're not a middle of the pack team, haven't been for a long time.

They play 58% of their remaining games against teams currently outside the playoffs and have a positive record in their second game of back-to-backs both this season and last.

So what you're saying is that they are beating teams that they should be beating???? Why aren't other teams running the table on teams in that range?

By that logic a team like Boston should be 82-0 because they have the best record in the league.

They usually have their best record after the break and Mcdavid's PPG goes up. People would complain because teams were letting up since they knew their position in the standings and Mcdavid just collects points in garbage time. I really hope the true Oilers show up if that's the case.

I'm a big oil fan and I am totally fine if we fire Holland today. And I would love to trade for a goalie.

the fact is most team schedules get tougher after the all star break. It has always been the case. Teams tend to have to play a lot of hockey in the final months. 🤷

I think some Oilers fans are a bit too sour on the team, you've had some great runs, winning is harder than ever and you always have a decent shot with McDrai.

I mean if it weren't for Matt Murray turning into God 2x, the Pens would have an easy top 10 player of all time and arguably top 20-30 guy who only won one cup together.
2017 Cup Fluery played 15 of the 25 games. Including the 7 game series against Caps where he stood on his head and got the shut out in game 7.

I get adding some context/nuance, but at the end of the day we are talking about a team that hasn't tasted defeat in well over a month. I find that pretty hard to poopoo on regardless of who they have been playing.

I think the thing the stands out most about the streak is it speaks to the massive hole the Oilers dug themselves at the beginning of the season. After winning 15 straight games they are still closer to being out of the playoffs then they are to leading their division. Yes, I realize they have games in hand, but still...

Even Lemieux, the 4th best player of all time, only won 2 cups. Likewise with Orr, the 2nd best.

It's just insecurity. Just read the lame takes and laugh.

Next Gary will change the rules so Edmonton cannot pick and choose their own schedule.

This makes no sense whatsoever. It's the same 32 teams playing each other so the toughness of the schedule overall remains the same by definition. Or to put it another way, if it gets tougher, then it gets tougher for every team so in a relative sense, winning is no easier/harder than it is earlier in the season.

Anyhow, streak or no streak the Oilers are 2nd overall by regulation PTS% (that's for the entire season) and that's pretty impressive. Not an Oiler fan myself but I think it would be good for hockey overall to have McDavid (and Draisaitl) go deep so I'm hoping they can keep it up in the playoffs.
