But this also applies to Demko and every other goalie that ends up making the playoffs too.
I never said it didn’t. The poster claimed the Oilers had a better chance because they have two goalies.
I’d also say there’s a better chance of goalies like Demko, Helly, Shesterkin etc holding up given their elite status.

Outside of this year.....what did Demko due to warrant this "elite" status he is upholding? And when was it bestowed upon him?

Don't get me wrong....he is darn good. But outside of this year who called him "elite"?

Demko is a fantastic goalie, who has been a band aid in years past. Van has also been remarkably healthy this year. We will see how the rest of the year unfolds.

For sure....I get that. But prior to this year I never heard him referred to as "elite". So just curious when that gets bestowed and how that suddenly makes them superior in the playoffs with only 4 games under their belt.

As I was told by a Leaf fan they got a bump from the new coaches. A bump lol is 3 or 4 games - 11 games at that time was denial at its best. Now it's a team record of 12 and that includes all those years with Wayne and company. They have changed their style of play, congrats Oilers.

They’ve had 2 8 or more game winning streaks with knob.

Have a chance to compete for the division if they keep it up too.

10 points behind Vegas with 4 games in hand, 12 points behind Vancouver with 3 games in hand, 5 points behind the Kings with 1 more game played.
They are unstoppable right now but still on of the most unlikable teams in the league between the brooding McDavid, the cheap and dirty Draisaitl and the naughty Nurse.
Only the Leafs and Vegas are worse but Calgary is a close 4th!

I'm just shocked they're on a tear while McDavid is sorta underproducing (6p last 6gp, 14p in 13gp if you ignore his 5pt vs Flyers).

Of course nothing shabby, and inb4 ''underproducing if you ignore a game lolol'', but that's still definitely below his usual production.

Yea, the whole team is actually chipping in.
The ones who are stuck in the past still think that the Oilers are being carried by their PP (actually terrible in the last while) or McDrai (also both underperforming compared to their normal selves)

It's actually nice for those that are paying attention.

Exactly. Give Connor's back a rest....

But maybe this is also by design??? In the game against TO, Connor had more hits than the $44million dollar men combined. The team can't match his skill, so maybe he knocks that down a notch for a while and inspires them with something else and the brings up the sum of the whole to something greater than the sum of him at his best plus them at...whatever?

I would rther see Stanley Cups before an Art Ross, Hart or the supposedly so precious Presidents Trophy.

100% traditionally the #1 Pp stays out for 1:30ish, knob gives them 1 minute and if they dont score #2 come out. and we keep winning

Nice dig at PK 😅

Another win under the belt. I hope they're not peaking too early. Their true worth will be revealed in May.
I think we proved last year that there was no such thing. We had like a 19 game no regulation loss streak right into the playoffs and lost in round 2 anyways.

I'm still waiting on a large number of posters to come forward and admit they were one of the ones talking about Mike Smith as an amazing playoff goalie
FTR.. not a Smith fan at all but here is his career and last 20 playoff games for the Oilers..

A .924 career playoff average and .913ish over 20 playoff games for the Oil's is far from a laughingstock, no? Admittedly, some horrendous goals against in the playoffs.lol

I think the answer is that one playoffs on covid when he stole a series. I, like you, agree he is great but I must've missed multiple Vezina nominations somewhere along the way.

Only one season has he played more than 50 games.

But I do think he's very very good and may get future Vezina nods and 60 game seasons.

I agree I'm not sure how he got put in the same category as Helle who has been elite year after year. He'll need a bit more on his resume to be considered that surefire elite goalie that Helle has been.
