Post-Game Talk: Oil flooding the infirmary

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Gutsy performance, damn shame that Nurse seemed to screen Pickard on the OT winner.
Him just giving up puck possession by dumping the puck in 10 seconds before the OT goal was much worse than him possibly screening the goalie.

The only positive is it was not a crazy hard shot to the ribs/core
Wasn't a hard shot that broke Drai's rib last spring either. Hyman also sat out most of a game recently after a very innocuous looking collision. Still think a lot of guys on this team are going to be held together by duct tape a month from now. Too many guys spending the season "playing through" things that are starting to add up at a very bad time.

Goaltending lost us the game again but we did get a loser point.
That is not true at all. Fans aren't even close to objective anymore. The first goal Helleybuck let in was worse than either Skinner did. It is getting g to be a but much when you can't even look objectively at the goals anymore.

Another f***ing garbage game from stewed Skinner.

On 17 shots 3GA, 2 posts, A ridiculously bad come out of net situation where he's beat clean and fortunately Jets don't score, and he lets an alley oop from Center ice get by him. It beat him. If thats on target its going in

Pickard comes in and gets the loss because our #1 is a clown.

Helleybuck had 3 goals on what was it 20 shots and yet somehow goaltending lost us the game. Did you even notice the ine goal was a 2 on 1 which was because of a breakdown that lead to a great pass and a great tip in?

You replied before I added the bit about Schwartz!

We might not win a Cup, but we'll definitely win the award for most "good guys in a room."

Aside from all the suspect and shady characters we've given second or third chances to...
Need more characters like the ones from "Good Fellas" Win or end up in a dumpster.

I think goaltending was bad for both teams but I don’t agree. On one Skinner served up a freebie on a plate and then didn’t react leading to a wide open net. Then he somehow ends up on his ass 2 feet out of his net on another.

It was bad.

Maybe Ozempic once he gets his shit figured out

It's funny, you can always tell how Skinner's game went by the way [redacted] complains about every other part of the franchise.

Skinner had a bad game? No prospects in the system!

Skinner had a bad game? Katz is the worst owner in the world!

Skinner had a bad game? YOU CAN'T HAVE DISSENTING OPINIONS HERE. :pout:

Boys should be proud of how they played the 3rd down McDavid, down Draisaitl, refs shitting up a one-way storm... that 3-3 tie was earned working against all sorts of adversity. Valiant, well earned point. Jets needed every favour, non-call, horseshoe-ass scenario just to get 20 shots and take an OT coin flip. And a 5-on-3 to top it off... those "roughing" penalties wouldn't be called in pre-season man.

Hopefully the injuries are not long term. Gutsy as tonight was, we won't accomplish much without McDrai over larger samples.

Stu Skinner mediocre in this one.
Jeff Skinner making Knoblauch look stupid (and still doesn't get OT time before a two defensemen setup lol)
Might have been a top 5 worst game by Nurse overall. Whatever decency we saw in the first half of the year, the patterns lately have been super concerning. Granted, we don't get the tying goal without his point shot. But my goodness, the man literally passes it to the other team consistently in no pressure situations. Hope Walman can handle the load here.

The first goal against was 75% on Walman, 25% on S. Skinner. Walman has been fine, but he just got beat by Connor on a who-wants-it-more? play and made a completely unnecessary turnover that led to about 1 minute of sustained pressure and the goal... Connor wanted it more. Then, Skinner let out the biggest rebound I've ever seen in my life, which was banged in for the goal. I mean, every goalie lets out a rebound like that now and again, but not usually on a 'meh' shot from a severe angle. But that one's mostly on Walman.

The second goal was a Nurse brain-fart, as I saw it in real time. Nurse has been quite good lately, but damn was he bad defensively in this one... Somehow, with the other team's best players on the ice, Nurse ends up on the boards, at the red line, as the Jets are breaking up the ice. Surprise -- goal!

In overtime, what can you say...? Nurse just throws it to the Jets, and then go the ice and score.

Unfortunately, it's a thing with Nurse where he is very capable of looking great against middle-level and bad teams, but when the Oilers face top teams he tends to look quite bad.

I feel that two of the Oilers' three top D-men (Nurse and Bouchard) have below-average hockey IQs on the defensive side of it. This, plus the below-par goaltending, is going to do them in in the playoffs. Not that the offense is consistent, either, but I feel that will probably come through when the games are really important.

Hellbuck was awful in this game. Nobody said different. But the thing is Winnipeg get the best goaltending in the league all year round. This was a very atypical game for them to get such shit goaltending.

Hellbucks two worst games of the season have been in the last couple games. But thats not the point and focus of the board is it, We focus on our players right or wrong, good or bad. Kind of how it goes on a fanboard. Skinner was shit in this game, really not a good game for him at all and the many misplays by him have been described. For crying out loud he got beat by an alley-opp from Center ice. Only lucky enough that it dribbled by the post instead of going in. Everybody saw that including Debrusk who gasped.

I appreciate Doc for immediately crapping the bed after Staples sang his praises.

Exposing Staples as a fraud is always funny.

The slash on McD, Ehlers diving, I can’t stand that shit.
Skinner goes without saying at this point and Nuge was a ghost with our top guys out.
Whats Nuge supposed to do, turn Ardvark and Podkolzin into 50 goal scorers? Nuge was one of our better players, shitting on Nuge year in and year out is kinda getting old, he's worth every cent of his 5 mil contract.
