What"s the deal with Powe and Asham... Do they have to go through waivers again to be recalled? Likely that they would get claimed???

As Zil said, there are no more re-entry waivers. But that wouldn't have applied anyway since Powe and Asham were never sent down to the AHL. Being waived does not equal being sent down. They are two separate things. Players can't be sent down during the summer.

Trade value doesn't mean squat if you have no intention of trading a guy and if as I suspect Staal is ready to play again and if his so called trade value is as low as it can possibly be then it makes more sense for the Rangers to find out just how good he still is and if as I suspect it will be somewhere near where he was then his trade stock will rise again--not that that means we should trade him then either. So selling him cheap or for other injured players or with extensive histories of injury (Skinner) would be kind of stupid.

I say again, why are we trying to trade away DZ? He's on a great contract as of now while we deal with this low cap ceiling, he has potential to be a great player, he's made strides to get to where he is now and he loves playing in NY and despite there being others on defense that can contribute offensively, he's the only one who can be considered an offensive play making defenseman.

Thankfully we all just post on a message board. No one is going anywhere until one or more of these is clear:

1) Staal's status clears up - either good or bad
2) John Moore takes the next step
3) McIlrath earns a legit spot and not just a taste

2)When DZ was at his best offensively his +/- really suffered. There is still doubt about whether he can be a two way player. Right now he is an either or.

I don't know what stats you are looking at, but in 2011-12, DZ had 41 points in 77 games and was +20 on the season. This year he had 21 points in 46 games while playing part of the year with a sports hernia, and finished at a +6.

He just turned 23. He's still 2 or 3 years from hitting his prime.

lol Ryane Clowe got a NMC on his contract.

Hysterical! :biglaugh:

Old news.

Pretty bad summer, all in all for the Devils. Clowe and Ryder are apparently going to replace Kovalchuk.

What's the deal with Clowe getting more than Ryder anyways? My team might be soft as butter but I'd take Ryder over Clowe any day.

Speaking of free agents, Brunner's still on the market. Maybe if we move Boyle and Pyatt for picks we'll be able to fit him. Can't see him getting more than 2.5 per.

Looks like Clowe's contract wasn't registered until Friday. The NHLPA.com compensation page had Clowe on the Rangers page Friday night but they corrected it Saturday morning. Clowe was listed between Lundqvist and Callahan.

Was the Clowe no movement clause reported by the media?

Jersey is supposedly going to sign Brunner who wants $3M-$3.5M per in a multi-year deal. Very risky move for a player with 58 career NHL games on his resume.

I believe it was mentioned on Capgeek's official twitter page.

#NHL #NJDevils Ryane Clowe's contract is for $4.85M each season. Also got NMC. http://www.capgeek.com/player/120
Just a ridiculous contract.

Clowe and Marty can bring some popcorn and ice cream and have themselves a tea party once both of them expire physically and watch from the bench.

Clowe getting a NMC.............absolutely hilarious. By the way, is Prospal still avail.? Any chance Slats picks him up again?

One of my favorite post-lockout games.

Agreed. The pass by Naslund is very underrated. Perfect backhand sauce.

I doubt Moore becomes a significant offensive defensemen at the level of MDZ.

He's a better skater and puck-handler already.

'Fluke injuries' or not, the fact is that Staal's missed 63 GP the past 2 seasons while Skinner's missed only 24. Staal is damaged goods compared to Skinner.

Wait, Skinner with 2 concussions isn't damaged goods but Staal is? Makes no sense considering they had the same amount of concussions, that's even if Staal had one from the most recent one. I would assume he did. Skinner has come back early and is more prone to them. He further endangers himself, just like Lindros did.

I swear you're not really a Rangers fan.
