The Traverse City rosters haven't been announced yet. Its September 5-9. The NHL CBA limits training camp for players with service time to 20 days. Its 27 days for the other players. Traverse City tournament is 5 days. 1-2 days of skating before the tournament. 26-27 days of camp for a young player if the player doesn't get assigned to another team before that date. Rangers camp opens the 11th.

I agree he's got value but Wheeler is blooming into one of the league's premier power forwards imo.

more than happy keeping my young and improving offensive defenceman then.

I like Wheeler, I think he's a solid player. I think he's a bit to streaky for my tastes and hope that this past season is not a fluke and more of a sign of things to come for the Jets who I like as a franchise.

However, the dude has some serious warts in his game like defensive awareness and a lack of desire to use his frame to his advantage.

I would love to see

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Wheeler - Brassard - Callahan

But not at the expense of MDZ++

He was trending towards 40 points this season over a full 82 games

The fact is that we struggle to score goals and this kid is putting up points.

And I would not use Power forward to describe Wheeler's game. Not at all.

Assuming Staal is healthy from day one of camp(all the indications are yes),where is this defenseman playing? McDonagh and Staal are gobbling up a ton of minutes on the left side. Move DZ to the right so he can actually play. Samuelsson can help DZ with the transition to the right side. Yandle is a lefty and he played some right side in PHX. Samuelsson played a a key role in Yandle's development. Girardi. Moore. Stralman. Falk.

Injuries happen. 8 NHL d-men would be a very good thing going into this season.

And I realize that and it may happen, he's still young and raw...but straight up for Boyle (or, as someone here said, MTL adding a 3rd...OK, then) isn't even really in the ballpark right now...McCarron is still a project, yes, but Boyle's a 4th liner and will always be a 4th liner; not really a fair tradeoff...anyways, not really my original point, so what reasonable offer would the Rangers ask for to move Boyle right now??...
