Jagr to the Devils makes too much sense. The Devils need forward help, and Jagr gets one step closer to playing for every Atlantic division team. One year deal with the Islanders in 2014 and he can do it

Asham already completed that feat ;)

i have a gut feeling a Zuccarello to Kings for Clifford trade might happen

None of the teams Jagr leaves want him back.

Great player, loved watching him here.

But he always struck me as someone who has zero loyalty. People like to think he loved playing for the Rangers, when I think he loved having the Caps and Rangers pay him over $9M annually.

Those aren't mutually exclusive.

Hossa turned down big money in Pittsburgh in 08 to play for the Wings thinking they had a better chance to win the Cup. Pitt ends up beating the Wings with Hossa in 09. Hossa ended up in Chicago which lost in the WCF to the Wings in 09. Chicago won the Cup in 10 and 13. He got his rings and his money. Jagr got his rings in his first 2 years.

It's a good thing he played 3 years in Russia or he'd be out of teams by now.

Still if Jagr had stayed and score 60 points each of those three years, he's be challenging Messier for #2 all time in scoring, playing most of his hockey well after the high scoring 80's. Like him or not that's legendary.

He still went from team to team chasing a cup.

Jagr is still solid but his presence reminds me of Messier's final years. He struggles to accept a secondary role and it tends to disrupt the team's chemistry, identity, and leadership structure.

I guess. It certainly seemed like he enjoyed playing under Renney. Pierre Maguire has said Renney made the game fun for him. Im sure he loved NY. But as soon as his lucrative contract was up and it became clear the Rangers wouldn't be able to come anywhere near it, the breakup was swift. Apparently he didnt love NY enough to even consider a paycut.

Agreed.

Luckily this Ranger team doesnt have much of any of that to disrupt.

Love Jags, a top 5 favorite player of all time for me, but I'm fine with him not being on this team.

Was just thinking about the other day how excited I am for the competition between the young kids for spots like Kristo, Fast, Lindberg, Miller, McIlrath. Combine that with a new coach and that's more exciting to me at this point than adding someone else via free agency.

The sticking point was reportedly that Sather wouldn't offer a 2 year deal for the 35+ contract (even though he handed one out to Brashear the next summer. He obviously wasn't going to get the $8.36 million he was getting on the previous deal.

Ryan McDonagh is getting married today.

Question: Do you have a fiancé or girlfriend?

McDonagh: Yes. In fact, we’re getting married next Friday.

Question: Cretin-Derham girl?

McDonagh: Yes.

Question: Athlete?

McDonagh: Yes. Kaylee Keys. She played hockey for Bemidji State for a year, then came back to St. Paul and played three years for St. Thomas.
