I was actually thinking to myself that we could use another top-6 forward and a good power play option.

However, Jagr has lost a step from 2 years ago with Philly and I don't know how well he'd mesh with this team. He does love playing here though.

Jagr to the Devils makes too much sense. The Devils need forward help, and Jagr gets one step closer to playing for every Atlantic division team. One year deal with the Islanders in 2014 and he can do it

A lot of free agents are still available. Guys like Morrow, Prospal, Hejduk, and even Jagr might merely be training camp invites in September. I'm not sure about Jagr, but the other guys might sign cheaply if they impress in camp.

A lot of these free agents are still free agents precisely because tons of other teams are in the same position we are - we can't afford even 1 mil on the cap for them.

Yeah, we're not gonna have much space for him though. Stepan still needs a deal. If Richards was gone, I'd have to think he would have been a Ranger already.

Need to re-sign Stepan first. After that, I don't think we'll have enough for Jagr.

Agreed. If we add a forward, it will be a guy like Morrow on a one year, 1 million or under contract. That's after whatever Stepan and Zuccarello will cost.

I just find it very difficult to agree with the argument of "Well, their (better) core players are getting 8 years, so Callahan should too." Don't get me wrong, Im sure he'll ask for it -- Rangers management would be fools to give it to him considering his style of play.

It's really up to each person to decide whether or not they'd give it to him. I'm not even saying I'd be comfortable with it, just stating that I'm sure he'll ask for at least 7 years. I'd be absolutely blown away if he took anything less than 6 unless the money is absurd.

I think it'll be harder to replace him than people realize.

Doubt we can trade all of them but I would be on board

I know it's a risk. I know the Zucc camp will hate it. I don't think he gets much in arbitration and after trading the other three they may be able to fit them both. Regardless, I think the Rangers could use the size, strength, veteran experience, and board game Jagr brings.

Jagr on the boards, so Nash can be the big body net presence on PP

I'd love Jagr back, but I doubt the Rangers are actually interested considering what he probably wants.

mehhhhhh. Improvement to bottom 6, yes. with $4M, can we improve our bottom 6 some other way with a different player who's younger, less of a risk to crash, more tuned to a hard working shift after shift mentality and won't disrupt the flow and balance of the team that way Nash did when he was expected to take over the team's offense? yes.
