i could absolutely live with monahan at 5x5-ish.
we've spent literal years on this board griping about a lack of veterans and a lack of centers and a lack of guys who wear their visors tilted super far up and a lack of guys who can win face-offs. monahan delivers on all of those.
his best career season (82p in 78gp) came playing alongside gaudreau. monahan-fantilli-jenner is the closest thing to an actual nhl-level center group that the jackets have had since the 2019 playoffs.

Have to laugh at the Monahan responses .. you don’t sign a player like Gaudreau , and play beside Boone Jenner who was rated like the 99th best center . Jenner will go back to wing , so you would have Monahan , Fantilli and Sillinger down middle , and Boone and Voronkov to wing so you have more size
