Wait are you saying Nylander’s knee was injured during the season? The only report I saw was that he injured it in the offseason
It wasn't reported at the time but his December injury when starting skating was reagrivating it.

It for sure happened vs Vegas, Q&A with Alex Nylander: On knee injury, rehab process

But he doesn't know when or if during Edmonton, he was pretty bad in Edmonton in his own before though. Sure I recall a couple neutral zone mishaps going the other way. I won't say his play was only bad from an injury

will not be surprised if Reichel makes the opening day lineup based on what everyone on this board is saying about him, Hawks also have a track record developing their top prospects at the NHL level, they rarely send players to RFD for any meaningful amount of time and Reichel has a few years of pro experience already...it's Nylander, Connolly, etc that should be on the outside looking in...all accounts are that Reichel is a really smart player with good instincts and a lot of skill so he'll probably adapt to smaller ice pretty quickly, player that comes to mind when reading the reports on Reichel is Turbo, both slight builds but highly skilled and smart players, didn't take Turbo long to transition to the NHL and make an impact

Kubalik Toews Johnson
Debrincat Dach Kane
Strome Borgstrom Gaudette
Hagel Carpenter Nylander
Khaira

S Jones Murphy
Kalynuk McCabe
Stillman DeHaan
C Jones

Fleury
Lankinen

That's my guess heading into training camp. Hopefully Strome is dealt, so they can put Reichel in there, if he performs.

Wouldn't these pairings make more sense?

That's me in the corner
I was listening to the new Laz and Powers pod and they were theorizing that the Hawks could run four offensive lines if they wanted to. Kurashev would center line four, Johnson line three.

You could still do a solid PK without Carpenter/Khaira types with DeBrincat, Dach, Hagel, Toews/Johnson.

they have a hard time seeing Colliton not playing Carpenter on the fourth line though

DeBrincat-Dach-Kane
Kubalik-Toews-Reichel/Hagel
Strome-Johnson-Hagel/Gaudette
Borgstrom-Kurashev-Nylander/Gaudette

I would try and bump Johnson down to 3C to play with Hagel.

I’d also ease Toews back into the lineup with his buddy Kane and probably Debrincat on the other side.

Nylander, Strome, and Borgstorm can not be paired together in any combo.

Absolutely. I've been saying this the whole summer, we have the personnel to run 4 legitimate two way lines (we'd need some of our maybe guys to put doubt behind though).

But we could. I hope we will, it would be big advantage.

I can't see it though unfo, just too traditional to run a 'dependable grinder line'. Maybe down the line when the eventual shuffle is needed in a rut we go to it - find out hop it's working and keep at it.

This is fine for a top team like TB but I reckon in Chicago such a philosophy wouldn't work. Not enough fire power.

I cannot believe we got Jones and a 3rd that could be a 2nd for Keith. he statistically was a one of the worst d in all the league at multiple categories and un like jones can he really improve much at his age. I think he can be better but not by a ton. Jones on the other hand could be a guy that ends up top 5 in voting for norris

Just to be clear, not debating Keith's decline.
