I let my wife negotiate my last car buy. I don't know what she did, but at the beginning of the phone call the price was 12488, and by the time she got off the phone it was 10999. And they were throwing in an extra spare tire (seriously, my car has two spare tires), free oil changes for 2 years, upgrading the sat/nav for free, etc. I was what the hell, did you have phone sex with this guy or something

I don't know if is realistic but what about Hanifin, TT and something minor for Niederreiter and Brodin?

On another board/blog I frequent, there was a discussion about our 2017 1st, 2017 3rd, Gauthier, and maybe Fleury (can't remember) for Niederreiter and Dumba. My sense is that it would cost more and I also proposed switching Dumba to Brodin, making the 3rd a 2nd rounder and I think you'd be close to fair value. The key, though, is that MN needs to continue to compete now. So it might require a Hanifin instead of Fleury, but then I'd think we could down-grade the prospect a notch.

When I bought my F-350, the salesman dude basically would not let me leave without it. All I wanted was an F-150, but he gave me so many perks (a bunch of t"car stuff" that I am still not 100% sure what half of them mean, and a paint color that wouldda been $500 extra, for free) that I caved and took it. It is a very nice truck though, albeit quite excessive for a guy like me.

You strike me as more of a LeBaron guy.

I wouldn't trade our first, Fleury and another prospect for Duchene, sorry. Not a fan at all.

I watch almost every Avs game, and I'd give up Fleury and the 1st with no hesitation for Duchene even after this year. I think he'd be great for us. I doubt that just that would get it done.

It might not, but they're also approaching Eric Staal in his last 2 years in Carolina type decline in value for him right now.

Won't the best scenario if (Duchene) he goes to CBJ but we could try for El Nino and Brodin.

I don't want to give Fleury for Duchene either. One of the forwards, sure. A 1st + Roy or something, now you're talking.

I wonder if once Duchene gets traded, here or elsewhere, if some of these trade ideas for us getting Duchene will prove as out of touch with reality as the Avs fans are getting made fun of for.

Bean/Fleury + Roy/Kuokkanen + 12th Overall

Colorado fans would hate a quality for quantity, pure futures trade and many of us would view that as an overpayment, but it's in line with what Anaheim got for Duchene's closest comparable, Bobby Ryan, back in 2013. Silfverberg was a more valuable prospect than Bean/Fleury, but Roy/Kuokkanen + 12th Overall > Noesen + Unprotected 2014 1st.

Colorado may be able to snag a more proven or valuable defensive asset elsewhere, but I'd be very surprised if the Avs are able to pull a high-end prospect (Chabot, McAvoy, etc.) or equivalent young player (Hanifin) for Duchene, all things considered.

That price would sting, that's for sure. Even more so if Duchene walks after 2 seasons. But even after moving all those guys, our prospect pool is still looking pretty darn sturdy. Also that means we didn't trade one of Hanifin, Slavin, Pesce, or Faulk.

I'm certain Duchene would rebound from this past season. I also think there's a high probability we could extend him when he's available to do so. If this ends up being the deal I can live with it, and safely say he improves our team without giving up a roster player.

Also I'd hope it would be Kuokkanen on the way out versus Roy. I'm pretty high on Roy.

Weird feeling that Jordan Eberle might be a guy we're in on. 2 year commitment for a player that's still fairly young. If it doesn't work out, it's only 2 years and won't mangle our money for the long term. If it does, we can probably retain him for even money at worst. The price tag should be reasonable considering his salary. Great buy low candidate.

I have no doubt that he will eventually.

I also have no doubt, that unless it's to Columbus for Murray, Colorado fans are going to be very disappointed with the return.

And then people on this board will go nuts with "Is that all it took? Ronny should have been all over that!!!

I don't want to give Fleury for Duchene either.

I wouldn't hesitate in the slightest. Fleury's future here is "guy that got blocked by Slavin and Hanifin". Duchene would be our top center by a significant margin, and pretty close to Skinner as our top forward. That's a deal that gets us into the playoffs with the possibility of making noise if our goaltending holds up.
