Vinny should have been a Masterson finalist over Zuccarello imo.
Yeah, no. I have no love for the guy, but Zuc got hit in the head with the ****ing puck and couldn't speak for days afterward. He's the slam dunk choice.

Versteeg is not coming back.
Lucic (UFA - likely coming back) - Kopitar - Gaborik
Pearson - Carter - Toffoli
King - Dowd/Shore - Brown
Clifford/Andreoff - Shore/Dowd - Nolan
Doughy - Scuderi
Muzzin - Martinez
Greene - McNabb
Forbort
That's how it going to shape up minus any trades based on contracts and one way deals.
Assuming we're stuck with Brown for better or worse, I'd like see him work on his game in the off-season. Last season he put a lot of work into his conditioning which was good, but now we need to do see him do more work on the game itself.

King is one of the guys that needs to traded....
Just out of morbid curiosity, what would a package for Matthews cost?
I would assume it starts with Toffoli, Kempe +
Not saying I am entertaining this, I am just wondering if we have what it takes to get in discussions.
Matthews value seems very high and I know he will step into the NHL next year and probably have Eichel success. Just see the Leafs are loaded at centre with Nylander, Marner, And Kadri so would they even entertain the notion?
If you are wondering what brought this up I was looking at our lineup with Carter on wing, which opens up a 2C and 3 C spot. With Carter getting older and signed long time I was wondering if moving him to wing would save a bit of wear and tear on him.
In my Dwight King trade thread a poster suggested
Martinez and King for Myers and Dano
Seems like a good trade to me.
Perhaps a little lateral at D, but myers would be a huge add on D. Dano could audition for the 3c spot, cap hits are give or take a wash.

Skeptical about Myers' health, I believe he had to have recent hip surgery towards the end of the season. We've had success with damaged goods before though...
Hhi would love this but would think we would still have to add.
I think DL will be busy on draft day

I have been saying it for years now however no chance as long as sutter is here.
He definitely would shore up our top 4 D. Our bottom pair would also look promising with Gravel/Forbort/Greene/Schenn? Still concerned about the 3C spot, but maybe one of Dowd/Shore/Kempe (now that he's playing center in the AHL playoffs) can fill in and emerge like Rakell did for the Ducks.
Im Hopin hes moved for a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft
For anyone who says he is not worth a 2nd round pick. I hate him on the Kings but he does use his body well to shield the puck and if Vey can fetch a 2nd then a 2 time cup winner can fetch one
Everything wrong with Brown is between the ears. No amount of conditioning or training can bring back the offensive confidence he used to have. He's gotta dig way deeper than anything physical in my opinion.
I just laughed to myself about getting Dustin Brown a hypnotist but then I realized there are psychologists and others out there who do things for sports performance
I need mah coffee
With The Leafs bringing in Matthews, Nylander and Marner (Blob MacKenzie says he will be in the NHL this season)
And possibly getting Stamkos?
Leaves Kadri, Bozak, and others available. Any fits?
They could upgrade their D...but would not want to deal Muzzin
or Martinez unless it was truly a great deal. (if one of them dealt, could get back Gardiner or Maricin, etc) Whats the status of JVR?
Well, he's tried special nutrition meals delivered to his home...so why not. lol Maybe the hypnotist could also advise him to take a 50% paycut, to help the team.
I've read from certain reporters that Toronto winning the lottery will deter Stamkos from going there. He's going to want to be the #1 guy and #1 center and it's going to be 2-3 years before Toronto is serious contenders anyways.
Bozak's price probably wouldn't be that high. Didn't Toronto have interest in Clifford before? Clifford + a 2017 2nd for Bozak + $1.7 million salary retained. Problem is Bozak's durability. Has played less than 60 games 2 out of the last 3 seasons.
