Increased interest means new monies coming into the league, new franchise money to split up, more TV revenues means more money to split up.

Are you seeing the pattern:nod:
Do a risk vs reward analysis. Let's start with this - what happens to franchise values if it comes out that the NHL is trying to fix games?

It took many missed calls to put the Leafs in that position.

Yea, sure, keep believing there is some league wide conspiracy to make you cope better with the loss. Every fanbase thinks there is a conspiracy against them. How many Florida Panthers fans think reffing is biased in favour of Toronto and Boston (original 6 franchises)? You can make up any conspiracy for or against any team in this league.

We are seriously frustrated and two seasons in a row GWG has been scored after blatant holding of the stick. In Tampa series that Tavares goal should have been counted by playoffs rules, if there is any.

It's water under the bridge, but that Staal elbowing I don't get, that was as sure call as there ever is. Playoffs or not.

It would have been nice that GWG wouldn't have produced any stupid controversy, but we really deserved to lose that series.

Fans only see missed calls that hurt their own team. You don’t see missed calls that benefited our team. Game 3, Gus clearly hooked a guy in the 3rd period to prevent a rush the other way but no call was made. Missed calls happen both ways.

This type of mindset needs to go from our collective ethos.

This series was lost in game 2. Keefe was not prepared. And the in game adjustments to counter the Panthers were lacking.

Omg stop whining about this shit. They were awful all series, they had no right winning it at all. This call doesnt change anything, youre just coping hard.

Life aint fair, gotta deal and play with the hand youre dealt. If you want to win you need to not let these types of plays/calls end your whole season.

Context with out knowing when the whistle blew means that picture is meaningless. Also not knowing if that was the Leafs game or another game or another goalies foot means the pic is useless.
No one is arguing puck was in net .. da issue was simple .. da ref said he blew his whistle and stopped play before puck crossed line .. it was not even a situation room call .. I am still not sure how they can make da determination but they did

If that is the case then then its no goal. I've come to the realization it's not that the s the Leafs are getting jobbed by the league but the refs are simply horrible at calling the game as intended. It's just gross, widespread incompetence.

There is no reason why you can't put a cheap micro chip/tracker in the puck that tracks location by GPS which can be linked to the clock, which can be linked to the refs whistle that track arm movement to determine when the ref intended to blow the whistle. It's a technology play, you can put ships in the sticks to determine if it was a high stick, you can put sensors in the players equipment to determine if there is a stick foul against them. There is a crap tonne of Tech solutions that the NHL is begging for. Figure that out and you are a rich man.

What happened when the NBA got caught with their thumbs on the scale? Oh lots of harumphing, lots of people burning jerseys, and then a new season started.

People will still watch, people will still cheer, buy tickets and most importantly lay the cash down with the bookies.

Boxing was the sport that the fix was in deeper than the Marianas trench, and yet the sport exists, there are still multi-million dollar paydays and a huge following world wide.

We love bread and circuses and have since the first Sumerians started having archery contests. A little fooling around isn't going to change anything.

Just seen a YouTube video and there's a zoomed in video AND picture of Gudas holding onto the stick of Jarnkrok during the winning goal. It doesn't just look like it he's holding it for 4-5 seconds.

WHAT IS HAPPENING????

Video is "HOW Is THIS Allowed In The NHL Playoffs..." uploaded TODAY by user Kappy.

How did the ref miss this???

It was very clear to me when I watched it live
Brutal

I don't recall the name, but one of the NBA refs was arrested for betting on games he was calling and revealed on the stand that the NBA would frequently tell the refs who'd they prefer to win games, and this specifically happened in Game 6 between the Lakers (with Kobe and Shaq at the time) and the Sacramento Kings. The NBA knew the Lakers were a big draw, so they didn't want the Kings knocking them out, so orders were given to make sure the Lakers won Game 6, no matter what. And it lines up when you go back and watch that game and realize that the Kings spent the entire game in major foul trouble whereas the Lakers got away with murder.

Link? I didn't hear this part of it, I think I was living in Europe at the time but I'm skeptical. One ref who's ass was grass trying to shift the blame, doesn't sounds too credible to me.

The league wanted Gretzky and the Kings going to the finals. The game was really taking hold, Hollywood was showing up at Kings games, big fat juicy TV contracts were sure to follow.
Well, they were right. That series is still #2 all-time for TV viewership of an NHL series, only beaten out by the New York-Vancouver series the next year. What amazes me is that Bettman can't figure out why they don't have ratings like that anymore, when it's obvious.

And Gudas, the season was over FFS, who cares about a suspension served next season? No excuse for letting Gudas do what he did with zero response.
You don't think the League would carry a suspension over to next season? They have in the past.

As for the refs:

Don't let them be a factor.

If that means you need to score 6 goals to counter the 2 goals called back, so be it.
Was possible in the pre-salary cap era, but now? There's too much parity across the league for a team to be that much more dominant than other team. And close games are common in the playoffs; every game except Game 1 in this series was a one-goal game. In one-goal games, ref incompetence can easily tilt a series, and so can brainfarts and small mistakes.

I'm not going to disagree except for one thing. The Leafs aren't the biggest pu**ies in the league, it's the fact they have the biggest target on their backs in the league from DOPS and Hockey Operations.

Ask yourself if the Leafs would get away with doing what the Panthers did....the answer is not a chance in heck. So what happens when/if the Leafs do respond? We know the answer already, as Bunting has the longest suspension so far in the playoffs for doing something less intentional than Bennett did on multiple occasions.

How obvious do you really want to make it? That just allows for league apologist answers like this.
If you feel that way, why bother watching?

How about your star players score more than 3 goals in a series. As much flack as the Oilers get here at least Draisaitl and McDavid carried that team. Same can't be said for Matthews and company

It must be nice to win a series only showing up for maybe 30 minutes in total and relying on your goalie to do everything for the rest of the series. Wish the Leafs could do it as easily as Florida just did.

Yeah, it would be a lot easier for the Leaf stars to score if they spent half the game on the PP too.

It's not like the Leafs didn't have any PP against Florida. They have 11 PP to Florida's 8. They only scored 3 goals. Not good enough.
