I'm alright with this. I've never seen anything from him suggesting that he's an NHLer. Never hurts to have injury depth but I'd imagine Steeves, Robertson, maybe Holmberg or Gaudette (though I don't really know much about him) would be ahead of him on the call up list anyways.

The Leafs received Joey Andersen in a trade for Andreas Johnsson.

I wish I was alright with this. The Mango trade was a disgrace.

Not so sure that NJ fans are happy with the trade, he was essentially traded for a ~3rd/4th around pick, but he was a cap casualty.

Lou Lam strikes again!!

Johnsson is not doing well, good trade Dubas.

The first post I could find on Johnsson from their sub:

"For the record:
I'd be fine if Holtz and Zetterlund both start the year in the AHL to build a bit of momentum (unless one knocks it so far out of the park that it would seem like a slap in the face) at which point I'll be very happy if Johnsson hits wavers."

Everything I can find that is recent is about them waiving Johnsson.

Mango has 18G and 46 Pts in 121 games since being traded. With a cap hit of $3.4 million. As a top-6 winger.

Seasonal pace of 12G and 31 pts.

Anderson played 52 games with the Devils and put up 8 G and 13 pts in a bottom 6 role. (13G, 21 pt pace)

I think Anderson could have put up similar totals in similar circumstances (in NJ) while providing better 2-way play for 1/4 the cap hit. I think NJ would like a mulligan on that deal too. Didn't work out for either side. It happens. But it's in no way 'a disgrace'.

Great trade by Dubas!

here is another quote on Johnsson today.

"Johnsson can go pound sand. He's earned getting waived and if no team wants to pick him up despite only costing $750,000 in actual salary, then maybe he should take that as an indictment of his game and work his ass off in Utica to get an injury callup ahead of the likes of Thompson, Foote or Clarke, who should all be knocking on the door. Maybe Johnsson's agent could work out a trade that doesn't cost the Devils anything besides some retained salary, but they'd get nothing in return and it's almost better to have that depth on hand (if he goes unclaimed). Could also be that Johnsson's trade value increases after clearing waivers to the point that they could get a late round pick in return...but I wouldn't really count on it."

Love to see the usual suspects blindly hate on a trade without any knowledge of how it turned out.

Re-Watched the first minute of the game to see where Benn got injured. Less than 30 seconds in he’s in the slot and literally turns to go behind the net. That was it. He held his groin after a simple turn. I wonder if the longer Team Canada 62 celebrations cooled him down too much. Seems like a lot of fitness related injuries this year.

Robertson going to start for marlies is my guess.

Malgin and Jarnkrok will be nice additions to 2nd or 3rd lines.

Steeves will make the team if he keeps playing like this.

Malgin, Holmberg, Robertson clearly in the fight for final roster spots.

I'd say this might be the first sign Holl is out of the top 6 but then again if Muzz was ready to go he might be paired up with him.

Off topic but love the extra info Zeke provides. Explaining what lines mean in the big picture. I like it.

Not sure why you would bring up the Islanders GM in a Leafs training camp thread.

I'll never understand the obsession some have in here with the Islanders and Lamoriello.
Hey never want to forget about how awesome Lou was. Dubas critics are insecure

If they're going to play rielly and kokkonen together for a game, what's the point in having rielly play the right side when kokkonen has played the right side most of his career...

are you sure about kokkonen?

anyways, that would just reinforce that looking at Rielly on the right side is important to them.

Kokkonen was playing more on the right side 2 years ago. Once he started playing with Rindell as his partner that's when he began playing more on the left. But the year he was drafted, and before that, he was primarily used on the right in Liiga.
