So. We've all been focusing on Nashville and Winnipeg when it comes to Hayes. But this move just screwed the Isles big time, both in terms of a rival stepping up and taking their number one trade target off the market.

What do we want from them in exchange for #13?

2020 first.

Isn't Fabbro a much better prospect than either of the guys Columbus just traded for Duchene? It would appear the 2nd tier of guys is more likely.

Good news

Great news for Rangers, good news for Columbus. Happy for Torts, but especially happy for JD. I rather like that team, and wish them well in a season where we aren't competing.
This might be their last hurrah, and maybe heads will roll after this season, especially if they don't make any noise in PO's.
If they aren't able to re-sign Duchene......then maybe that will add to chances of heads rolling.......but they have a better shot with him as he has to be happy getting put of Ottawa.

This is still pretty risky for columbus. If they lose Panarin and Bob for nothing!!! and If Duchene doesn't sign wow. Very risky

Meh, they need to go for it at some point. This is now the best team they've ever had. Their fans have yet to see them win a playoff series.

If you lose them for nothing, so be it. Shoot your shot.

fabbro is great but nashville needs another defender like the rangers need to draft another goalie.....also check my edit, totally f***ed up on that last part

Oh wow! Happened much more quickly than i thought. This really should set things in motion. Lots of TIME to think about next moves for other teams.
Think Ottawa did well for themselves though. They didn't get hung out to dry and will coup some nice prospects and prob a player. Hope its not Anderson.....want him on Rangers.

This deal, with this timing - couldnt have been better for the Rangers.

They have 3 full days for teams to up their ante on Zucc and Hayes.

Simple steps here:

1. Scratch them both tomorrow and in DC.
2. Field calls
3. Wait
4. Get a haul for each of them at the deadline.

Before the trade to Ottawa, I talked about it depending on which Duchene a team thinks they're getting.

A year and a half later, and I still find myself thinking that.

There's the 2019, 2014, 2013 and 2011 version of Duchene.

And there's the 2018, 2017, 2012, etc. version of Duchene.

I think he's one of those guys teams hope to have slide into the ideal environment and catch lightning in a bottle.

Yeah their path to the ECF won't be too bad. Pittsburgh is floundering, Washington doesnt have the motivation and the Isles are a fraud.

Just dont trust Pittsburgh to go down that easily. Washington isn't motivated.....true, but can turn it on when need be. If they don't, Pitt will find a way....they always do. Isles are a fraud like you say, their goaltending turns sour, they are screwed. Opens door for Jackets......maybe add one more piece, they should move right in with a little luck.

He's a top6 sniper.. It's something we never have.

He doesn’t do anything else well besides shoot, and outside of a crazy beginning of the season in the KHL last year, he doesn’t really score all that much, so right now I’m not even sure if it’s a safe bet that he’s got a long NHL career ahead of him
