The best part about this trade is that it confirms Panarin is not being shopped.
Good for them unlike the Candy Canes who won't move one of their 89 bobby Orr Dmen for a forward to help them push for the playoffs. The Jackets are going for it, good good.
This is what I said yesterday--I don't think trade values are "set" by one or two deals the way free agent deals are in the summer. There's a totally different context to the negotiations and it involves team-team interaction as opposed to team-player. It's a much different situation.
I think there's a tendency to think that a premium guy entering the market can jeopardize deals for players lower on the totem pole.
But, in most cases, it's not all that different that collectibles on eBay. Not everyone wants to spend $200 for the shrink-wrapped box set of their favorite band. Some people are okay spending $150 for one that's "like new" or $120 for one that has some imperfections.
But the markets at the $200 price point, and the $120 don't necessarily overlap. Both markets still have a desire for the product and will pay based on the range with which they are comfortable.
If anything, a bigger name coming on the market can actually help prices for sellers. If a Western Conference team lands Duchene, there's the possibility that another team feels the need to invest in a trade for someone like Hayes to remain competitive. Obviously, that's not always the case. But I don't really see a negative impact on what the Rangers are trying to do. If the market is weak, it's weak with or without names like Duchene or Stone.
Please don’t get my hopes up, I’ve had this feeling for a while.Me thinks Tolvanen is going to be a Ranger soon.

I can feel it to... the funny thing is Hayes would have been a good center for him. We'd need to add playmakers for Zibs and TolvanenMe thinks Tolvanen is going to be a Ranger soon.
No certainty that this means Panarin is off the market here.
Even though I’ve said it before, I’ll say it now, I’d 1000% much rather have Fabbro than Tolvanen
