None of this is a surprise. If our management is competent at all, then they had meetings with the players most likely to be traded to set what the expectations will be in the coming weeks. This is the best way to avoid hard feelings. Honesty

I don't know, maybe Hayes said he'll take this now to extend back then, but if they wait until deadline day it will take this to extend?

I am assuming his agent is there to separate his feeling from business, and would likely understand that his value to the Rangers changes based on what his trade return would be.

Anyway I think this is a moot point, I think Hayes is being traded.

He is not yet 21 years old. He can be taught defense. He is still a kid and far from an finished prospect. The guy is not even in his prime yet.

When was the last time the rangers had a sniper like him in their prime.

I think Hayes ends up in Calgary. They wanna solidify their spot in the West and make it at least to the WCF if not further.

It’ll end up being for a 1st, a roster player and a B Level prospect.

I've always had the sneaking suspicion that Arizona is sniffing around there.

They are one of the four, and a name that I've heard from multiple people.

The names that I've heard the most, overall, were Winnipeg, Calgary and Boston. Though Boston hasn't been popping up as much since the Coyle trade.

You underestimate our cupboard. We have a lot of nice roster pieces and near roster pieces to give.

There is no way our entire cupboard would be wiped out and we would have an elite sniper who is turning 21 in April.
