Yzerman is trying to get Ristolainen offering JT Miller plus something (I recon).

I wonder if Gorton have any interest? Wonder what we would have to offer?

Ugh I had this thought as well. I'm sick of everyone pumping the tires on JT, and I know he will be even less spectacular if he's traded to another team. If Tampa flips him for something like Risto, I mean what you can say, that's an absolute robbery imo.

Even if Buffalo and other GM's treat JT like a Tatar, if I'm Tampa I absolutely give JT a draft pick and one of their 5 AHL prospects for Risto.

I wouldn't get to hung up on wing vs. center. Some of these teams may think tiffoli is a bigger fish for example and would make internal moves for center.

He isn't a bigger fish though.

He has a year beyond this one which helps his value a bit, but there are teams out there who have a direct need down the middle (Winnipeg being the most obvious one.)

It's one thing if its a player like Stone, but no one is going to take an inferior player who will probably cost as much.

I understand your point. Some of the teams may have a different perception thought. I'm just cautious based on the returns so far.

IMO you'd have to be pretty damned desperate to be looking at Jeff Carter. He's 34 and appears to be in a real decline. He also has 3 full years remaining after this one at a pretty healthy cap hit of almost $6 mil. That would be an easy pass for me.

That's about as desperate as it gets IMO.

No, the people "complaining about Zuc" aren't talking about "market". The narrative that opinions like the above, and you're not alone, assume that the Rangers had to trade him and that that is what he's worth.

The people "complaining about Zuc" are saying that that wasn't enough to replace what he brings to the team and the team would've been better off signing him for another 4-5 years then have a late 2nd and 3rd round pick in subsequent drafts which contributes very little to a rebuild. Zooks leads by example and busts it every shift throughout his career save for a small drop this year early on when he was clearly having difficulty facing the writing on the wall. Rebuilds also build a winning culture and character in the room. See Sabres, Buffalo for a team perpetually rebuilding the wrong way.
You know they can resign him in the summer right. Besides I dont think keeping or getting rid of Zuc will be the difference between a successful and a unsuccessful rebuild.

I think the only guy that might really effect the Hayes market is Staal. Not really any other notable centers out there. Granlund is a winger and will cost more than a rental Hayes.

Granlund being out there is the real wrench. That probably impacts the market for Kreider. Hoffman perhaps to a lesser extent. They're all different players though, so I'm sure a team like the Leafs who wants grit and speed on the wing isn't sniffing around those guys, but Boston and Nashville probably are.
