Patrik Laine is kind of like this generations version of Rick Nash. Big, young, spectacular goal scoring skills. Even has at least a couple concussions. He hasn't worked out the defensive parts of his game yet but that took Rick a while too. If we're going to have him better at the front end of his career than at the back end.

He's a 70 point player. If Nash was one of the worst two-way players in the league instead of one of the best, that's Patrik Laine.

Okay, but even still. If they KNOW Bob isn't coming back.....Kinkaid has been a backup just about his whole career. Doesn't address losing your starting goalie, but a start. Only a 5th for that chance, right?

He's put up good numbers as a backup before, so I guess there's some upside for CBJ? Is Korpisalo banged up or something?

Nash wasn't that great defensively when he was a young player in Columbus. That's a part of his game he worked on as his career progressed along.

Korpisalo has been awful this year.

they both suck, but I think Kinkaid has been less suck.

Good question. I have a "pot shot", maybe they got a good offer for Bob in the making? That would be AGAINST going all-in like they have been.....but one never knows what in the hell they are doing.

Maybe he wasn't that great, but Laine is deplorable defensively. And I don't think he cares.

I've seen the Hull comparison before but Hull was on a different level as a producer.

Hull was putting up more points in his late 30's in the DPE than Laine is now.

Johansson's been pretty disappointing the last two years--some of it may be because of injuries but even so--maybe he fits into a top 9--not a top 6. I might give a 3rd and a later pick. I don't think I'd give a 2nd.
