Dreger reporting extension for Stone is "highly likely"

That means Vegas was able to speak with Stone about the extension prior to the trade

Brannstrom is really good, don't get me wrong, but for getting Stone and having either full knowledge or at least "highly likely" expectation that you are going to re-sign him... shoulda gotten more

Stone himself said he just agreed to terms with Vegas.

We'll see how much Stone gets... 8-9M in Vegas without state taxes and a much lower cost of living

No, but Brannstrom is potentially a franchise player. Quality over quantity. Opposite of NYR's method.

I'm sure the Rangers would have been more than happy to take quality over quantity if any team had offered it.

Nobody wanted Claesson

Figure no one wanted to pony up a 2nd for Names, still have next year to move him

8x 9 mil is a lot for a guy who has never hit 30 goals.

Makes the quoted figure of 6x6.5 for Kreider look like gravy.

Think it's easy to fall into the trap of overrating late first round picks when we talk about this stuff, whether it's relative to rental players or top prospects like Brannstrom. What is it, 5% chance of being an impact player, 30% chance of being a "good NHLer," anywhere from about Namestnikov to a little better than Skjei, 65% chance of being a spare part for a few years or never making the show
