Brannstrom would be our best D prospect... how is that not better than what Hayes got?

Dreger reporting extension for Stone is "highly likely"

That means Vegas was able to speak with Stone about the extension prior to the trade

Brannstrom is really good, don't get me wrong, but for getting Stone and having either full knowledge or at least "highly likely" expectation that you are going to re-sign him... shoulda gotten more

Def would have thought Stone would have yielded a blue chip (check) but a 1st instead of the 2nd. Ott saved face saying "ok fine give us the second instead of the first but add.....eenie meenie miny mo....Lindberg".

Stone is the real deal.

Brannstrom is a great prospect but I feel like for a player of Stone's caliber they should've at least gotten a first rounder along with him.

Still good for Ottawa to get a legit blue chipper. I think it's a fair deal for both sides, if slightly underwhelming for Ottawa. Have to remember Stone is a rental.

Poor Oscar has to go to Ottawa now.

Slightly surprised all the talk of Calgary and Nashville balking at the price for Stone though. None of them think adding a top 5 winger in the league is worth a high end prospect and a 2nd rounder?

Stone is better than anything we've had to trade the past two years. So, I don't think it's really fair to say "the opposite of" what we're doing.

I just want to be clear that I agree that NYR haven't had the pieces to acquire a top player. It's just frustrating (not nec to due any fault of JG) that NYR seem to continuously collect 3rd liners. It's more upsetting that McD didn't bring back more last year.

So Claesson might be the 2nd annual recipient of the David Desharnais "Nobody wants you" deadline sale award.

That's not comparable to the Hayes package.
It isn't some crazy amount better. It is better, sure, but not the difference in package that the difference between rental Hayes and re-signed Stone is.

To say nothing about this deal apparently hinging on Stone signing long-term.

That's also a big difference from trading someone who is only contract for about half-a-season (if everything does right).
