If Kylington really is going to be that good and Gorton can get him, cool, but I don't understand all this D. Rangers have literally about 20 D prospects. Not all will pan out, but they really should be trying to acquire talent up front. Unless this is some mega deal where like Hayes/Skjei go to Calgary and Kylington/Neal/Prout and two firsts come back to even out money.

Rangers have too many D as it is.

The quantity is irrelevant if the quality isn't there.

Still never got why he was moved. He could've helped that playoff run. Brian Rolston in 2012 and Lee Stempniak in 2015. Those are my irrational subtle moves I will complain about the rest of my life.

For whatever reason, Vigneault just hated him. I think Lee got fed up being here and having Glass play over him night in night out. I thought he was a really good signing and a good player for us. But AV just never gave him the shot he deserved.

He's got a pretty decent shot at sticking around in Dallas.

He wouldn't be the first rental player to end up staying with the team that traded for him.
Still don't see Dallas giving up a 1st round pick that could be around 12-16 (or even top 10 if they stink next year). Not worth the risk when they can find another 2nd liner on the free agent market without giving up a 1st.

Zucc is going to be one of the best players on the market next year. They aren't getting Panarin. So I really don't know who else you think could sub in for him. Dallas is as likely a destination as any and I think there's a decent shot he re-signs there.

I think you just want to act doomsday here.

You have your opinion, i have mine.

Just don't see them throwing away a mid 1st round pick to re-sign him unless he tears it up with them.

People seem angrier it has the possibility to be a 1st however small than they would be if it was just a 2nd and a 3rd. I don't get it.

Who?

The winger market is pretty shallow. Neither Stone or Panarin are going to sign there (well, at least we know Panarin won't.)

The only possible UFA signing that could throw a wrench in the whole thing is EK, but he probably sticks in San Jose.

The Hayes trade should be somewhere around what we got for Nash in all honesty, he seems to be the best center available so who knows

They're getting a 1st and if they don't, it'll be better than a B prospect.

The overrating of Zuccarello is astounding. Yes he had a good month, but the ones previous to that were not good to say the least.

The fact that they have a shot (even if remote) to walk out of a deal for him with 2 1sts and a reasonable shot for 1 is amazing.
I think Zucc was quite highly overrated on here and should have been dealt a year earlier which I wanted to do last year . He would have fetched more and we likely could have retained on him last season and have been rewarded for doing so with likely a first rounder and no options and would not have hurt our team this season at all and we would not be subject to these game of chance /carnival like options hinging on this deal! At first I thought...HMMM...not a bad return but now when you think about it...we lost out here because we kept him around far longer then we should have . Hopefully that becomes JG's worst move in the next couple of seasons .

Even with a bunch of LHD prospects, you take the A LHD prospect over a B or C forward if that’s the offer. I’ll be surprised if it’s any of Valimaki, Kylington or Andersson but if that’s the offer you take it and run.

If there is so little options for a decent winger, wouldn't that make it even more unlikely of him signing there? Just means more teams will pony up more money/years to get him.

I thought he should have been shopped to Edmonton last November when they appeared desperate to make the playoffs. Could we have gotten Puuijarvi or Yamamoto at that time? Maybe their 1st? Maybe I'm nuts.

I don't see the issue here. He would be the 7th.

I don't see any big FA coming here that will need to be protected.
Well Lias better start playing some hockey up in Hartford or there will be no reason to protect him. Sorry the team may stink up there but he is a big reason why. If this is the type of players we will be drafting with all these picks people are craving, then we may be waiting another 50 years for glory.
