I would be shocked to see Hayes get the Flames first and one of their young dmen after what we got for Zucc. I would be happy with their first and a third (if they own a third) and then hope for them to lose in the first round with their shaky goaltending to the Stars
I refresh twitter every 5 minutesExpect a deal after our game and before CGY game?
We need our sleuths to watch social media
Hayes can be in Ottawa already

This is too on the nose. Is this a number floated by management? Get other teams thinking he's a bargain? Negotiating early with the Kreider camp? That's an easier number to say yes to for Gorton, no way Kreider's agent leaked it and killed his bargaining power.
We can guess where it originated but the "why" is the important part.
You know at least one of those 2nds will be wasted on a mediocre goalie that we don't need. The rebuild really got a strong push from seemingly doing well on all our first round picks last year, as well as some other prospects taking off this season.
Factor in AT LEAST our 1st and 3 2nds, and our prospect pool is really looking great.
IMO Hayes with his boy Gaudreau would produce at a much better level.
He's been playing with Vesey and Buchnevich... As a playmaking center he hasn't had much help. Vesey should have 30 goals by now. He misses open nets and quality scoring chances as if he has no thumbs
Stone is a great player but he might not re-sign in CGY. Hayes has a much better chance to re-sign with his best friend and cousin being there.
Vesey's ability to bungle high-danger scoring chances is basically unparallelled around the league, the numbers bear this out.
After the Zucc deal, i'm not expecting much for Hayes.
2nd and B prospect.

Most likely neither of whom, will be better than Hayes. After the Zucc deal, i'm not expecting much for Hayes.

There is no reasonable shot for 1. You are overrating the deal if you think there is. Its a 2nd and 3rd barring some sort of miracle. They're getting a 1st and if they don't, it'll be better than a B prospect.
The overrating of Zuccarello is astounding. Yes he had a good month, but the ones previous to that were not good to say the least.
The fact that they have a shot (even if remote) to walk out of a deal for him with 2 1sts and a reasonable shot for 1 is amazing.

The funny thing with Kylington is that I was yelling at the TV for them to take him in 2015 with the Gropp pick
And we all know how that story ended
Our old friend Lee.
He's got a pretty decent shot at sticking around in Dallas.
He wouldn't be the first rental player to end up staying with the team that traded for him.
Serious question: when was the last time a team made a trade where they gave up a pick conditional on re-signing a player where they didn't then make a good-faith attempt to re-sign that player?
Might be selective memory, but it seems to me, more often than not such conditions get fulfilled – no...?
