You're looking at it from fan eyes vs. ownership eyes.

Dallas isn't owned by Jim Dolan. They need playoff revenue. They need to compete. If Zucc goes there and catches fire, they may want to re-sign him to a 4-5 year deal. That could be worth a 2020 1st for them. Playoff revenue means millions extra for the Stars.

It’s the same thing as why Columbus is holding on to Panarin. Playoff revenue is a driving factor.
