I deem "peanuts" to be a couple of players we have no use for and a pick or two we'd have no problem recouping on draft day. This.. not so much.

Ehhh, if the Clowe deal being quoted is right, its not great... but its not awful I guess..? Meh. If Slats gave up all that just for a rental I'm not too thrilled.

honestly i like clowe. price is steep if we resign(doubtful), but a 2nd and 3rd isn't too bad (if it's not from a great draft year)

Honestly, I'd like to see them dump Gabby at the draft, resign Clowe for a reasonable price, and use the extra cap space to fill in holes -- 3C, 6th dman, depth RW'er. I know Gabby has had 40 goal seasons with us and contributed a **** ton that way, but I just don't like what he brings outside of that and think the extra cap space/picks that moving him could bring could really help round out the team. That's just me though.

speculation on my part but the organization prob feels it can get picks back for gaborik but wants a legitimate top 9 LW in place before moving gaborik at the draft.

My point was to justify why the price is what is for clowe. You neglected to quote the rest of the post conveniently.

We need grit and toughness. It was the right move.
