With Bjorkstrand, we still have 9.1M of available cap in the offseason, as we currently stand.
Gourde shouldn't require much at 34 for a final contract, a couple millions on a longer(ish) contract?
The only problem I could see with this is that we then couldn't go big top4 Dman hunting.
we have 9.1 mil but only 16 players on the roster. If we pay Gourde 3.5, trade sheary and fill the rest with near league min players then we have a 21 man roster with roughly ~3mil left for M.Geekie
 
Rantanen wasn't really that productive with the Canes, which is what lead to him being on the move again so quickly. If I were a Canes fan, I'd at least be okay with getting some value out of a guy who would be unlikely to re-sign anyway.
