The concerning thing in this tank is Babcock. Coming out and saying he will fix it, he's responsible.

He might. But when is a massive question here in toronto.

Many have written off this season so we hear those words and admire the commitment.

What about next season? Do the words start to ring hollow? Do fans start to say, ok we get it but when?

The longer the rebuild goes, the more likely these words will build into pressure.

It's ok to say it but I wouldn't make it his hallmark and repeat it too often. The media and fans will eventually eat him up.

Well, he has a bad team and only about 50 games to fix things ... then the selling begins.
No way we will win much if we send out our vets for draft picks and prospects.

On the bright side, March and April should be very entertaining ... if we get to see some of the kids called up.

Honestly I think this year is the toughest part of the rebuild. Right now in that hole where the young guys already in the system aren't quite at the ready level management wants and still have guys to sell off the roster.

Once a few of those guys are good to go and you can see some progress forward then it's a smoother road. Next year will still be a bad year, but maybe not worst in the NHL bad. And then of course you have even more prospects to watch develop.

In the end next year they should be able to win more than a game in October. That should be enough to at least get some forward momentum.

Next year it will be watching Nylander, Brown and whoever gets the promotion develop. It probably be losses but at the very least, us fans get to see how the kids play and get comfort in thinking the future is bright. Think Florida.
Then by 2017-18, the team will be better with more guys graduating to the Leafs, while more guys gets better with the NHL exp of 2016-17. Think Jets and Flames. might sneak into the playoffs but will be close.
It is the 2017-18, where the Leafs will be making noise around the league and will be a playoff team.

Even drafting Matthews and/or signing Stamkos will only move the timeline a year faster. As I doubt the Leafs can become a playoff team with the current and projected roster next year with the addition of Matthews and Stamkos.

You can only start eating a coach up when the roster is actually worthy of something better than a lottery finish.

Until the Leafs have that, there won't be an turning from the rational fans.

To be honest, when he said that, I interpreted it as him fixing the effort levels.

Everyone knows this is a losing team. What they've given is a lot of effort and done things in the right way. Tonight they didn't, and I think that's what Babcock means he will fix.

If we do that than the Leafs deserve to forever be bad. We tried it before and it doesn't work. Patience is the way to go.
Look at this line up....isn't that an automatic tank? It's just that during the summer it was theoretical, now it's real and it is a hard thing to sit through and watch. Still this is an opportunity to continue to build a great prospect pool. We just have to accept that it is going to be a bitter pill in the short term.

This isn't a tank, it's just a complete lack of talent.

That some people thought there was 1st. line talent on this team just waiting for a different coach?

There's a deliberate complete lack of talent... because of the intentions to tank.

They moved Kessel ...

If only coach A didn't ...

Sorry, had nothing to do with coaching, those players have no talent. One player had talent, everyone else had a brigade of excuse makers.

Leafs only had success because Reimer and Bernier had franchise best save percentages.

You put those types of performances on this Leafs team the way they've played this season, they'd have a lot more wins.

Thankfully, that hasn't happened.

Yes.

It is good.

Hopefully every player on this team is moved, or just released.

Except for Rielly none of them are worthy to wear the uniform.

We're going to finish last by a good margin and not get Matthews.

You know it'll happen.

If they finish dead last, there is still an 80% chance they don't get Matthews, which isn't a good number. But unlike in years past, you can drop 3 spots, and knowing the Leafs luck, they will.

Not only that but we'll probably get bumped to 4th so we don't get Chychrun either.

It's the Leafiest thing that could happen.

Tank is moving nicely now. Good result tonight. In Dallas next, Benn, Seguin will be nice to watch. Then get run out of MTS center in Winnipeg. Then Wings, Caps, Stars, Preds, NYR, Canucks. Maybe we grab a loser point against Det. Of these 8 games 2pts would be quite remarkable. This tank may be a thing of beauty come Christmas.
