Probably for the better, I never expect to get anything but a rehash of other people's work on NESN, and filtered through the higher ups if it involves the Bruins and Red Sox.

Can't expect much from a station that also forces baseball announcers to take vacation in the summer as a cost move.

I would never watch except for Bruins games if I had the choice.

Damn. For that time slot, i always enjoyed mikey and lenny megs. Doesn't take himself too seriously and knew how to have some fun. Sure he wasn't hardcore sports guy but i enjoyed it. Wonder if Mut is in the mix?

I literally forgot Mike Adams was even still on.

I mean, in the summer, he essentially isn't.

I guess they'll just let Mutt do it until baseball season ends.

Mutt deserves the gig IMO. He is a pro. Mikey was amateur hour kitsch. He had his loyal following, but he was a two trick pony, Red Sox and Pats year round.

“We made a tough call on Mike but, at the same time, we feel there are some innovative opportunities we’d like to explore over the next few months,’’ said Zachary in an email. “As you know, WEEI has extensively–and successfully–revamped every major weekday show over the last three years. The time is right to extend that thinking to nights.â€

The decision was not a sudden one or the result of a specific incident, but had been under consideration for some time. Zachary did not dismiss the possibility that Adams could work at WEEI again.

“Mikey will always be a part of the WEEI family,’’ said Zachary. “I’m very open to him continuing in some capacity down the road, but things understandably need to settle a bit.

I will miss him

Mike Adams was class act and knew his sports. Seems to me to be a genuine decent guy who'd be easy to have a beer with. But I did think his show had gotten pretty stale and his homer act was becoming predictable. Either way, I know he has a family, hope everything works for him, maybe a limited role at 98.5 or something.

One thing neither EEI or 98.5 have tried is a local overnight show and Mikey would be a natural for that time slot. The listeners are there and over the years the syndicated shows have been dominated by Boston area callers.

Bruce Allen at Boston Sports Watch was kidding ( I hope) when he wrote this today.

I can only assume that this means the return of Ted Sarandis is imminent.

I totally agree on overnight, Boston could absolutely support 1 and Adams would be good. Given that time period give him free reign, maybe 70 percent sports 30 whatever the hell he felt like talking about. Also, I'm a 98.5 guy, at least vs evil empire of Weei. That said, in addition to overnight 98.5 local programming ends waaaay to early on weekends. Can't tell you how many times Bruins had a big Saturday game or looking forward to a big pats game coming up on Sunday and you turn on the radio at like 6 pm Saturday evening and some no name cookie cutter national syndicate Syracuse grad is babbling about the nba. Insufferable.

Let's face it, it's cost effective to run network stuff on the weekends.

Speaking of Rich Keefe (or Rich Geek as I call him) and Adam Jones....so salty last night about Lebron and so angry at Steph Curry for not preventing their lives from being ruined by LBJ winning. It was glorious to hear those two clowns whine before they got back to their nerdy minutia of NBA draft and trade nonsense and I shut it off.

WEEI morning show is unlistenable

Callahan only wants to talk politics and Liz Warren

Kirk believes his own crap and does the same schtick over and over

Dennis hates them all and just wants to get off this looney show

Ordway is back dominating and doing more than 50% of the talking and always appears angling

Sad times

Callahan is the best part of their show. He has a good sense of humor and I like that he isn't afraid to call out people on their BS, including "Hill the Shrill."

I do agree that Kirk's schtick is predictable and can be annoying. He's WEEI's Felger. However, he does ask good questions and I really appreciate that he's not a honk who believes that everything is awesome like Zolak and Thornton. Everything is awesome makes for terrible radio. I think he has been good this week at reeling in Callahan when he goes a bit too far on his rants.

Dennis doesn't bring a whole lot to the table.

Does that really surprise you about Ordway?
