Kings!
So I was thinking of going to the Kings away game in Detroit for Halloween any thoughts on the topic for a born 'n raised SoCal person, just for the weekend?
This is immediately what I thought of:

There isn't a whole lot to do in Detroit. Get a Coney dog. If you like history, you might check out Greenfield Village (Henry Ford Museum).

Both of my parents are from Michigan and my mom is from Detroit. I spent a lot of time there growing up and most of the fun stuff we did was outside of Detroit. I'm sure you're aware but the city is filled with abandon factories and other buildings. The Downtown area has been revitalized a bit but it isn't exactly a fun city. I'd recommend trying to catch a U of M football or hockey game in Ann Arbor. Being a hockey fan, you'd really appreciate the atmosphere at Yost for Michigan hockey game.
There are a million lakes to do some fishing if you like that sort of thing. There are a million golf courses if you like golf. The outdoors is the best part of Michigan. If you have a lot of time, you can drive up to the Mackinac ferries and go over to the island. I don't know if they are still open that time of year though.
