I can see us sticking with what we have mostly

Gaborik Kopitar Brown
Pearson Carter Toffoli
King Stoll Williams
Clifford Richards Lewis
Vey Andreoff

Drew Muzzin
Regher Voynov
Martinez (One of Green or Mitchell on a 1yr deal)
Mcnabb

means we are on the cap and will lose Nolan

think we may keep 1 vet if they will take a 2-3m one year deal (can't afford both and neither may want to stay)

year after we have to likely lose Regher and Mitchell/Green to keep Toff/Pearson/Muzz and Martinez (Drew , Muzz , Martinez , Voynov , Mcnabb and those on the farm should be all better players - maybe we pick up a cheap veteran)

Anyone think we don't resign Mitchell AND Greene, and go with McNabb and Cambell as six and seven?

Doughty - Muzzin
Voynov - Regehr
Martinez - McNabb/Campbell/Schultz?

I think it is all dependant
1 - if Gabi and King will sign contracts at levels leaving us room for a defence man
2 - if one of Green or Mitchell are happy to play 1 more year for us on a salary we can afford (both would get more money elsewhere and Mitchell may retire ?)
3 - if Green and Mitchell don't re-sign then is there another vet FA that will sign for us on a level we can afford and likely 1 year
4 - we may have no choice - we lose Green and Mitchell and have no money for better than we have left (stay with the youth and Regher or look to trade another player -)

I think it's time to let go of Mitchell and Greene. They are both pretty much finished.
Last year, about half of everyone here wanted to keep Scuderi and I knew it was time to let him go. No way he would be good for 3 or 4 more years. Was so true. Was he awesome and a great defenseman for his time here? Absolutely, but no way would he continue on and be worth the money the Pens gave him. Mitchell and Greene were
actually worse than Scuderi last year. Time to part ways. McNabb should make the
team and the other spot is a 7th defenseman and can be Bodnarchuk or a signing / acquisition. Love Mitchell and Greene, but just don't see it.

Keep for him depth. He would be an excellent 7th dman

Seems like Toronto is shopping.....everyone not named Kessel, Bozak, Reilly or Bernier.

Which, if true, means they are shopping JVR.

I know everyone is loving Gaborik and the way he plays, but if there is a chance to get JVR, I think they have to at the very least explore it.

I would assume that TOR would want minimum, an NHL player, a top end prospect, and a first, for JVR,

May or may not be worth it, but on our current roster, not sure what you would give up,

One of Dwight King, Kyle Clifford, Jordan Nolan, then 2015 1st, and Linden Vey? Don't think that's enough to get it done, maybe add in another prospect etc,

Sounds like TOR wants to completely remake their roster over..

JVR is 25, has a good contract, and coming off a 30 goal season. Might have to improve on that NHL player part. Would you trade JVR for King, Clifford, or Nolan? All 3 combined?

Coming off his first 30 goal season

King had 15 goals, and getting a 1st in a deep draft and Linden Vey,

I think they think about it, not saying they do it, but I definitely think they think about that and where they want to end up on September 1st, if they want a total roster overhaul, then there's a chance.

If they want minor tweaks, then no.

If they want to completely rebuild, then they ask for another prospect.

Toronto is not going to trade someone like James van Riemsdyk for the kind of third and fourth line players that you guys are so graciously offering up. If you offered all three up in a single package I doubt you could even get it to work in a video game.

Just like Philadelphia was never going to trade him for Schenn, right?

Truth is, if he is traded the only people that will know what they want, is in Toronto, everyone else will find out afterwards.

You say that JVR is not going to be traded for the kind of 3rd/4th liners etc,

Yet, King was close to 20/20 while playing solid minutes on the PK and being responsible on the defensive side,

Which...is something that Toronto needs/wants, and in addition, the 1st and Vey, in a position that they need,

It absolutely fits in the realm of possibility,

It all depends on why Toronto is shopping everyone....

Luke Schenn at the time of the trade was still looked at as a top 4 defenseman at age 22 so how that somehow equates to a package of 3rd and 4th liners makes no sense to me. Finding young, capable players on defense is far, far harder to do than to find bottom line forwards.

Go ahead and float that idea on the Trade Rumor board if you're confident in your proposal, but you'll be hard pressed to find people willing to prioritize the acquisition of 3rd/4th line depth by sacrificing a 1st line winger to do it.

With Schenn, he's a defenseman, right handed, and a former top 5 pick. King/Clifford/Nolan, what probably wouldn't be that high of a 1st round pick, and a decent prospect isn't going to get JVR. All 3 of those guys are wingers, JVR is a winger, and none of them are better, or will be better, than JVR. How much is Toronto gaining there?

There's not that much that would make sense for both teams. Obviously Kopitar, Carter, Doughty, they're not going anywhere. If you want to talk about Voynov, or Toffoli, maybe Pearson, maybe Muzzin, that's probably where the conversation starts.

How about:
Voynov, King, and Vey for JVR and Jake Gardiner.

Soo I've been thinking that Dustin Penner wants to be a King again. I would sign him and get rid of King. What do you guys think?

Gab-Kopi-Brown
Toff-Carts-Pear
Penner-Stoll-Will
Cliff-Richi-Lew

Also I think it's safe to say Nolan and Greene will not be Kings next season.

I cannot see us letting both Green and Mitchell go after these playoffs - Reckon we try hard to keep one if not both

Nolan is under contract for one more year at a very friendly 700K. He will stay even if he's a healthy scratch most nights.

with the team you list - current team - we have Fraser, Nolan, Vey and Andreoff - we can only keep two as all would hit waivers - Fraser will be gone. Hard choice on the others - we are going to lose one - good chance Nolan - maybe we trade Vey, Nolan and picks for something/someone?

I'd have to assume Vey goes and Nolan/Andreoff stay. Andreoff is a better fit and with Weal/Shore in the AHL Vey won't be there for long.
