What's up with Voinov, does he play on the big sqaud this year?

I heard some rumours that he's going back to Russia but they are probaly false?

Your guess is probably as good as ours at this point. There has been some rumors but nothing concrete. If Doughty holds out, my guess is Voynov will be the one who gets a shot. If not, I don't think he will be able to beat any of our current top 6 d-men for their spot.

We'll see. I'm sure he's not too happy about the thought of spending another year in Manchester but the Kings are big on paying your dues so they're gonna do their best to convince him to stick around and see what happens.

Fair enough, you gotta feel for the guy though not many Russians spend that much time in the A, it's a shame LA is pretty deep on D for his sake.

Added Trent Hunter to the board. Updated Doughty's numbers, his contract is now complete and updated.

I checked the Kings salary cap chart on hockeybuzz and they list Clifford as a UFA come 2013-2014...? How come Schenn and Simmonds are RFA's for Philly but Clifford is a UFA? Is that incorrect?

We have 6 UFA's at the end of the season, (Stoll, Mitchell, Hunter, Penner, Parse, Fraser)

Who would you like to see DL re-sign and why? If you think DL won't re-sign them, who do you see taking their spot on the roster next season.

Mitchell is the one I would like to see get done during the deadline.

The rest can be replaced within the system while freeing up CAP room for another big piece.

Mitchell.. That's about it. Fraser if he can continue to play like he's been doing the past couple of games and not demand a raise.

Want to re-sign: Fraser and Mitchell I would definitely like to see re-signed.

Mitchell has proven himself a very capable 1-2 defender. Can't just let him walk and replace him with Scuderi and another youngster on the 5-6.

Fraser has been a very capable 4th liner and is sort of perfect in that role, not to mention he helps out with the PK.

Don't want to re-sign: Hunter and Stoll.

Stoll's time is done. I don't see a real purpose for him other than a utility guy drifting between the second and third line, and he is just not worth his salary.

Hunter is completely useless.

On the fence about: Penner and Parse.

You may call me crazy, but we traded a lot for Penner and he has been a successful goal scorer for the past 5 seasons in a row before he came here. We are utilizing him wrong. He has good hands and a good shot, we are trying to use him like a power forward grinder on the perimeter, he is a floating front man around the net that can snipe if setup properly, but 90% of his goals are scored standing right in front of the net or in the crease. He is NOT a perimeter shooter. His value has fallen through the floor and could probably be re-signed to a decent price, he is also decent defensively and hasn't proven to be a liability, so he could step into a third line role should we find a more suitable winger.

Parse has sort of gotten the worst luck possible. But if you look at his numbers, that is a successful rookie season (70GP 14G 16A 30P +19)... The organization isn't exaggerating about his talent. He is probably one of the most skilled left wings we have associated with the team. I would be interested in signing a two-way minimum one year deal with him and seeing if he can finally pull himself together with his health. If we don't, you know he is going to be signed by the Lightning or someone of the like, and is going to wind up a 40-50 point winger. I bet you, with our luck.

I would without a doubt want Mitchell re-signed.

I would be okay with Fraser and Penner; Fraser plays decent hockey for a fourth liner, will be relatively inexpensive, and is a reliable mainstay. Penner I'd be okay with as long as it was a reduced amount to make up for his lack of production the past 1.5 seasons with the Kings. I wouldn't want him at the same cap hit.

Stoll I would be slightly disappointed if we re-signed him, only because I feel we have better options in the minors who would come in at a smaller cap hit.

Hunter, is nice for depth, but I'm hoping come training camp we have some more honest looks in the minors who would be able to have the same role.

I'd like to see Parse play in Sutter's system... but he's been injured too much where I think it's best for both parties if he moves on to a different team.

Who would you like to see DL re-sign and why?

Resign:
Mitchell - a very honest and smart defensive player.

Maybye:
Hunter - a big body; hard, but inaccurate shot; useful 4th liner
Penner - his stats are pretty awful, but he is not playing that bad

Not:
Fraser- if Loktionov is next years 3rd line center, we need a big 4th line center; Fraser is size- and skillwise borderline NHLer
Parse - injuryprone and useless winger, I rather give that money to Holloway

.

He'll likely take a substantial pay-cut in order to stay. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a 4-5 year deal with a cap hit of $1.9 million. I wouldn't mind. I see him as a very useful cog in the Kings machine.

I'd consider it as a depth move if he were to consider a deal like that, though his trade value would be as high as it could be if he signed that...
