What part was false exactly? It’s been very well established Washington paid to get rid of panik. Also true that Mantha had much more term.

The only false thing here is Nucks fans thinking they’re going to get three 1st round picks +
Nobody said 3 1sr round picks plus.
1st+Top prospect+Roster player is the price

Players of Miller's caliber with a tiny cap hit and 1.5 years left usually don't get traded, full stop. Demanding a list of identical past trades in order to be able to assess value shows a lack of critical thinking skills on your end.

Worse players than him with worse contracts have comfortably gotten 1st round pick + top prospect in recent memory. Doesn't take much to extrapolate from there.

Duchene is probably the closest direct comparable. ~1.5 years of Duchene got a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Girard, Kamenev, Bowers, Hammond.
This thread is going to be hilarious to bring up again when he’s traded. And no it was a three way trade so that’s not really what he went for.

Where’s the report on this? Panik’s contract was not worthy of paying to get rid of at that price. Also Mantha having more term doesn’t make him more valuable lol

Yes it was  an often healthy scratch playing 4th line minutes with term on a team right against the cap? Go back in that thread and see how many people talked about, or ask any single Caps fan

Shifting the goalposts is pathetic. You got the exact comparable you asked for. Star player on a reasonable deal with 1.5 years left.

You don't like it as a comparable because the return was even better than 3 1st round picks.

They mentioned on the sportsnet broadcast that it was a pretty full "attendance" of scouts for the game from all over the league
and just said way more than normal. How ever many that is.

I mean Vancouver is exactly at the halfway point of the season

Equivalent forsure. Literally look at what Coleman and Foligno got…not hard to comprehend.

Just because other teams overpay and were dumb mean the stupidity continues. Bill Guerin wanted nick foligno bad but pulled out after price went to 2nd round pick. To think teams like Minnesota will give up 1 of matt boldy or Rossi and multiple 1st round picks is a fantasy and Canucks fans, the ones asking monster package are in for a bad awakening

The “stupidity” happens every damn year. Gms pay the price to win a cup when it’s their window and rightfully so.

& like how Toronto basically bid against themselves right? Stop saying teans overpayment, or teams paying for players lead to championships because it's absolutely not true! Unless you have what Tampa bay does, it doesn't happen. Hall of fame players @ G, Stamkos, and Kuch, etc..

I’ve been on hf a long time and if there is two things I’ve observed over the years it’s this

1.) Prospects become heavily overrated or underrated based off a short 5 game sample like WJC. Every teams fans are guilty of this.

2.). Fans view every late 1st as the next David Pasternak. In reality that picks most likely outcome is Jason Dickinson but nobody wants to admit it because it’s depressing thought.

The biggest mistake Mike Gillis made As a Canuck gm was holding on to Hodgson/Schroeder/draft picks when he could’ve used them to reinforce a president trophy winner. Cough Jeff carter cough

The Canucks are most likely going to lose this trade simply because top prospects and late 1sts bust quite often. We will be down one hell of a player in JTM and be hoping on some magic beans to salvage the trade.

Do you not know what equivalent means?
this is on page 34:

….Nobody said a blue chip prospect had to be involved? Based on the deadline deals, I have (repeatedly) stated that Miller's value is a package worth 3 1st round picks. You don't have to include Schneider... but please don't expect any serious responses if it's "1st + Chytil" or "1st + B tier prospect/player"…..

The market is hot for Miller so I dont see any disappointments, sorry to burst your bubble if you think Miller is only worth a 3rd round pick. Canucks arent in the charity business
