@Johno is a drunk, a Finn and shouldn't be trusted. :sarcasm: But he is right in that Stenberg isn't the fastest. Personally I'm not concerned about that. I havent read the draft rumours but from what I've seen from him this season I highly doubt Stenberg is going to last to #4.

I'm very high on Björck, despite how much I despise the team he plays for. Could be better than Stenberg if he can adapt his game to the NHL speed. Could also see him have a Granlund type of a career.
Nothing more trustworthy in this world.

Also good to have verification for my scouting reports

Why are some people thinking that a 1 for 1 swap Larkin and Robertson is a fair deal just so we save $6 mil a year?

Because they're Red Wings fans who massively overrate the value of their best player.

A big reason why the Red Wings suck is because Larkin is their best player. He's a perfectly ok player but isn't special at all.

Larkin is not their best player. Come on now.
Seider is.
Raymond or Debrincat is their best forward

I wouldn't take less than Nazar+4th+Korchinski from Chicago at minimum. That's assuming J-Rob wouldn't take $13M or less in Dallas.

Even that feels low for sending him to a divisional rival.

I do however trust Nill to let every team know he is available instead of what GMJN1.0 did with Neal when it came out after the trade nobody else even knew Neal was available.

Agreed.

I think people are underestimating Nazar here. He is exactly what the Stars need. Elite speed, skill, can play C/RW (I do wish he played more LW though...).

I have fantasies about him being on the team without giving up Robo. So Harley would be a goner.
As long as were just making shit up anyways- thats an interesting idea as a basis. I was really just averse to taking on any more questionable contracts but if Harley is shipped out and the amount of cap tied up in question marks goes down it’s not bad.

Despite Harley's struggles at times, trading him for a forward also leaves a massive hole on D. Some Nill magic would have to be worked there to get a decent dman who can provide some offense and transition out of the defensive zone nicely. But we know Nill struggles with D acquisitions so.....

I'd go so far to say the signings are the biggest problem. The Nils trade looked horrible and we definitely gave up too much, but at least he's looked serviceable, when healthy.

If he could just stop signing Lyubushkin, Dumba, Suter types at bad term and $ amounts,

What worries me about all this is, that if we sign Robo up for 12.5M+ and he loses his ability to score (it's not uncommon to lose your best form and hunger after making your biggest contract, or if a team starts playing with a different playing style which doesn't suit as well to every player), then we have a player that isn't particularly fast, physical or good at playmaking (not in elite level) and might find himself in the third line with leftovers. And if Robo becomes Sequin 2.0, it's going to hurt us in 2-3 years when Miro is up for a big raise and year after that it's Wyatt. Those are players that needs to be closed.

I'm more comfortable using big money on elite abilities than past results (especially if he isn't the driving force of the line that produces the scoring chances). Jason has proven himself as a solid scorer, but as his profile is more of a sniper than playmaker. And now with our team getting weaker with Robo's new salary, there's probably going to be even less chances to score points - at least against teams that can defend. So Robo isn't probably going to be a 100 pointer next season with this team.

And to be honest, if someone would give me 12,5M to use on this team (as it's weakened with one of hour top scorer OR some lesser players with similar added value), I wouldn't use it all on scoring (if any). I would use some on defense (as it would probably help with the playmaking also) and some of it to find some speed on our attackers to help press the game better on the opposing end. I much rather beat Colorado 2-1 than Calgary 7-1.

I know Robo is a fan favorite, and I don't mean no disrespect with this, but these are IMHO moments that echo far in this teams future.

I don't know who you are watching but the future scenario you're talking about is Hintz if all these leg/foot injuries sap his speed.
Robertson has quite literally been the engine driving the offense since his rookie season. He's not gonna suddenly lose his IQ, which is what makes him so effective.
What killed Seguin was losing his speed from all the leg injuries, because that was what made him elite, much like Hintz, who is basically setup to be Seguin vol 2 with all his leg injuries too.

Maybe towards the final couple years of a 8yr extension when he's pushing 34. He might be less effective than he is now, but the cap will have grown so much by then that it will not be at all like the Seguin deal.
If the Stars gave him 12.5m, we'd have 30m in space next season with very few spots to actually fill. and the cap is already behind the revenue growth that it should jump even more than is expected.

The problem is getting through this year, ironically because we pissed away space on bonuses for Benn and Seguin's contract.

Not sure why Philly would ever do that. I take that and run.

Michkov will be elite, Tippett adds much needed speed and 25+ goals, use the first to upgrade the D.

I like the idea because it is trading clear star-power for more roster balance and recovery of futures.

I suppose for Philly, I assumed it's because there is no player in the trade that at present remotely compares to Robertson. Tippett has averaged 25 goals and 50 points over the past four years—which is great, but also vastly inferior to Robertson. Michkov is still young and shows a ton of promise, but again has yet to crack 63 points or 26 goals. Not to mention, I think him and Tocchet are at odds with one another.

Obviously, if something like this happened, Philly would be trading-in a bit of the future (Michkov and the 1st) for more of a sure thing in the present. While Dallas, would perhaps do it because their current roster already has enough star-power to bring along younger players that have room to grow.

I could certainly be wrong. Just my thoughts.

Yeh Robos gone.

No way he doesn't ask for less than 13 now

The Hart votes mean nothing IMO...but 1st team All star, that's a big deal
