If he’s not traded and produces like he has and connects with a new coach and wants to stay with Dallas I think he may sign for around 10; Nill isn’t going give him 12 though. If he’s moved to a team with more cap I definitely think there are a number of teams that will give him 12.

As news has been coming out that Robo being shopped are “a bit overblown” it is going to be an interesting offseason.

1. Is this just Nill playing the market and still set on moving him this offseason?
2. Or does Nill want to keep him long term and get a deal done at say 10mil?
3. Or will he take the chance (injury or down season) and keep him to start the season but look to move him during next season?

edit - Voted AI takes over cause it gave me a good laugh but seriously I don’t know what Nill may do. The trade for Rantanen completely blew my mind and why I think Robertson won’t be resigned but may be a Star heading into next season but will be moved at some point.

I don't think there's any way in hell he gets $12m+. He might ask for it, but he's just not worth that kinda $ even with the cap going up. I'd prefer to keep Robo, but not @ $12m. Whoever signs him to that contract is insane.

Whether we keep him long term or not, I really want to know what his "unusual contract demands" were/are. Nill & Co have been around the league forever so it's gotta be something new and extremely weird because I don't remember any big name players across the league having similar issues, but I could be wrong.

Maybe he wants to be paid in crypto but the front office is too old to figure it out?

I started the “conceited” thing as a joke, but it’s really true. If you don’t agree, reference his post game interview vs the oilers last year where he had a lucky tip in goal. In post game Heika made him aware that he had scored a goal and he went from depressed to shit eating grin in about 2 seconds. The whole time he wasn’t scoring goals he costed us multiple games and then once he did he acted like a little baby back b*tch - “I’m so good” attitude. 1 word: “conceited”. Every time he scores a goal u can tell his team mates hate him. Every time his team mate scores a goal instead of being exuberated he’s like “ok whatever lol”. Very subtle but this is an owners take. I know he scores 9 goals in 3 games for us but all that matters is playoff time and 1) he’s slow as hell 2) he could be out physicaled by a 13 yr old and 3) were gonna have to pay this guy $13M or walk. I’d feel way better about signing him if he had any speed at all

The good thing is, we can ride this horse all year on a contract year, and reap the benefits via his RFA status. You go put out for us, and then we can trade your rights at end of playoffs for essentially same value and return some younger defensemen. Robo is a “R”FA - no reason to trade him now. He’s got all year to continue working for us for free
