i was thinking this..
everyone and their puppy keeps saying the Leafs wouldn't be where they are without their goal-tending and #1 line. [but mostly goaltending] and I mean EVERYONE. I don't watch the Leafs broadcasts, and they wax poetic about how the Leafs are where they are because of Bernier.

Shouldn't Bernier be considered for the Hart? I'm legit asking here. I don't get how NHL awards get chosen etc, but Bernier should be getting some consideration big time for that + the Vezina.

The Hart has basically become the Art Ross 2.0. It's usually given to a player that has the most points or an impressive amount of goals scored on the season. Goalies and D are unfairly overlooked.

I love Reimer but I never understood when some people said he would come out as the #1.

It was obvious they didn't follow Bernier through the Q, AHL and with the Kings.

Atmos, Where are thou?

Bernier played great, I already called him one of the stars of that game in the PGT. But I'll once again give credit where credit is due. Doesn't mean the leafs automatically make the playoffs tonight/this morning so I'll save the "Bernier is a legit starter nonsense" til that actually happens. But he did play well. Kudos to him.

You made sense until you left out the fact management extended bernier at a larger deal than reimer.

They moved assets and resigned a player only to use him as a backup? There were rumours if upgrades in net since last trade deadline. Its clear that reimer wasnt the solution for this team.

They signed him to a 2 year deal, Reimer wad entering his final year. Why wouldbthey only sign a goalie the y just acquired to only 1 year?

I would imagine Reims gets to play tonight. After last night, giving Bernier a rest sould be the merciful thing to do.

Wouldn't it be sweet if Reims won one for the gipper tonight!

:)

All you do is **** on Reimer, don't give me that!

he has lots of holes in his technique, something many of you failed to understand. writing about them here makes me feel like im smashing my head against the wall, so i may go a little overboard trying to get my point across.

he's obviously a good guy, i just don't believe he's a very good goalie. (at least, not as good as many on this board used to think).

Bernier is the best young goalie we've had since Potvin, and has an even higher ceiling in my estimation.

Why does Reimer look like he's swimming in the crease?

I used to be a big Reimer fan but his technique lately/anxious flailing is making this team nervous in it's own end.

Because he has sat out for ages and isn't in the groove right now.

You are literally the only hockey fan I have ever come across (of any fanbase) that determines whether a goalie is a legitimate starter based on whether his team makes playoffs. Ridiculously odd logic.

Have you looked at their record the past 15 games?

I bet you the whole team will have a better game Thursday.

Well logistically speaking yes, they have a day off in between. They were playing like **** tonight regardless who played in net.
