I THINk our owner spends on the team, but he’s got to learn to let the managent do what they think is (should be) best, including properly rebuilding.
It’s like he doesn’t look back from between the 2015 off season to the start of last season to see what his meddling and directives have accomplished which is nothing for the franchise.

Like in the past 7 seasons the combined salary cap ceiling was say around $540 mill or whatever. Canucks have spent like within $10 mill of that ceiling it feels like. And they’ve done what with that money/cap commitment?

So they’ve poorly spent the money. Spending money doesn’t automatically equal success. It’s who and how you spend it. Sometimes best to not spend simply cause the group that you have just doesn’t warrant spending the money. And not getting short term deals. Signing al of those bad long term deals.

We’ll probably be the joke of the nhl until this loser is no longer owner. Which will prolly never happen lol
Not for a long time it would appear. I follow the nfl and have been a raiders fan ever since mervyn Fernandez signed with them. Loved the first round of the Gruden years. Aquilini is now like senile Al Davis post Super Bowl loss to TB but he was like 80 and now into his idiot son Mark who is on coach 4 in a decade. 2 decades with like 2 winning seasons. Fees like the same for the Canucks.

Nothing will change if nothing will change. Leadership, in any business or sport, begins at the top. It’s a rarity that a team wins a championship despite meddling ownership.

After coming so close in 2011, Aquilini has embraced, year after year, the belief that “if you make the playoffs anything can happen”. So he chases the playoffs, with bad signing after bad signing, traded pick after traded pick, and it hasn’t and will never work. He found a like mind in Benning, a kindred soul of ineptitude, and that’s set this team back a decade. The best this team can hope for is to squeak in and bow out in the second round.
There’s no development, no pipeline of prospects, no articulated plan.
Year after year after year after year.
This abusive slumlord who felt that human beings wanting water and pee breaks were asking too much operates like a fan that desperately wants to be validated as a hockey mind, a meddlesome obstacle that wants to be seen as a “builder”. He neither deserves or will ever lead sustained success.

I’ve accepted that this team will not win the Stanley Cup under Aquilini.

Too bad Ryan Reynolds (from Vancouver) likely didn't make enough money from selling his liquor brand to buy the Canucks (not that Fredo would sell his toy).
Well Reynolds would be a minority owner. And I doubt the people close to him would advise him to team up with the aquilinis given their reputation for treating their farm workers.

He’s smart enough to avoid bad business partners I hope.

I’m with you. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked for Canucks Sports and Entertainment. He’s not well liked. At all.
Secondhand anecdotes suggest the guy is a major control freak at every level. A previous DJ took to reddit and hinted this a few years ago. The fact you see a revolving door of execs and senior mgrs speaks plenty.

I’ve known a couple of people that have worked directly with him. Miserable experience. His only form of communication is to yell, scream, and insult. Just a terrible failson that is only out in-charge of the family’s least important businesses.

I really thought that with all his off-ice troubles; and the ugly mood of the fans with the on ice product (jersey tossing, etc.) that Francesco would do the logical thing and take a hiatus from the Canucks.

Guess It was wrong....but at the very least, he should shut down his Twitter account.

I used to work for a small company that had dealings with the Aquilinis, and they stiffed them on almost $100K in labour. I felt pretty bad for them, it pretty much out them into a position wherein they were barely in business anymore because of it.

Me too.

Aquaman has been quiet, the team is a mess all over the place while he watches his investment on the sideline get badly trashed by the fans and media.

We had a good thing you stupid son of a bitch, we had Gillis, we had Vigneault, we had everything we needed and it all ran like clockwork. You could have shut your mouth, sat back, and made as much money as you needed. It was perfect. But no, you just had to blow it up. You, and your pride, and your ego. You just had to be the man. If you'd let others do their job, known your place, we'd all be fine right now.
