Yeah.

Ice Storm by Dowbiggins just gives this picture of him being absolutely excited about all the innovation Gillis was thinking up.

But from what we now know, its pretty safe to say Aqua was never part of the actual innovation. Just allowing it to happen.
Canucks with FA feel like the Raiders during Al Davis final decade but we were talking about an 80 year old senile guy. Try but fail. A lot of mediocrity.

I haven’t watched much of their games this season. Like 30 minutes of 970 game time. Seems like a fruitless endeavour. Every team has a couple of very good players but the Canucks are not a team. Just a bunch of random pieces.

The Davis Raiders at least had an identity and a direction to go in. You can argue the merits of the particular identity/direction they went with, but it was there.

This just honestly feels like a spoiled brat throwing his toys out of the pram and a parent (this would be the hockey management) trying to end the tantrum.

Bruce Boudreau! He was a name!
Tyler Myers! He was a name!
Loui Eriksson! He was a name that played with the Sedins!
Ryan Miller! He was a name!

Needs more Juolevi dying imo

Aquilini is such a pouty grump ass. Couldn't even act right for a night about three of the biggest players for the best team this franchise has ever had.

Melnyk in Ottawa was reviled for being too cheap to sign good players. Aquilini spends to the cap throwing money at bad ones.

I’m not trying to not be mean, but Sens fans had to wait out an idiot owner who blamed them for his woes. Will we have to wait out Fredo? The guy is an Adonis who could live to be 120.

The problem is that frank doesn’t own the team on his own like Melnyk did who then left it to his daughters. The family owns it collectively. So even if he passed they’d still be around.

For the Sens if they were actually located in downtown Ottawa vs building their arena in Kanata back in the 80’s then it’s a turnkey operation for the daughters to take over. But now it’s a lot of working with the city, Builders, engineers, bankers, etc to build a new arena. So not surprised that they opted to sell.

That’s a good point. It’ll be a legacy thing in Vancouver, whereas the Melnyk ladies chose to sell.
Sigh.

Canucks ownership has passed that symbolic low point on the totem pole, graduating from just basic incompetence to outright embarrassment.

Of course court cases involving employees and contractors; along with ugly allegations in a divorce case, will do that to your reputation I guess. And now the NHL is involved, supposedly 'monitoring the situation', whatever that means.

Hard not to conclude that from the top to the bottom--this franchise is in a shambles.

You need to revisit your Greek mythology. FAQ is no Adonis. :)

This is just it. The thing about this league is name value is rated so high. We've been buying on it instead of selling it and that's where the asset bleed comes in. Aqua doesn't even seem like a diehard who pours thru the data, just the guy that gets all his information from the newspaper and feels entitled to the hottest, most outlandish takes.

I mean that FA’s brothers would take over if anything happened to him.

The Denver broncos, would not have been sold if Pat Bowlen’s kids could agree which one would be the primary face of the team. But Pat had 2 sets of kids due to his divorce so the the sets of kids didn’t get along. Thus the team was sold.

Would have to get into that type of situation where any heirs decide to sell vs keep the team because they can’t decide who should be in charge.

I was being facetious, and going off of Aquilini’s hilariously photoshopped (by him) dating pics.

wait, are you trying to tell me his twitter pic isn’t a current, accurate likeness?

The 'gets all his information from the newspaper' is exactly it. It's the 'hockey card stats' thing MS cites as dictating Benning's manner of...well, not thinking, but let's say 'arriving at decisions.'

Most of our personnel decisions have been dictated by chasing big names and it's been a problem since Nonis was GM, with that godawful Brad Richards trade. Nonis put his foot down and it cost him his job, but it was the right f***ing call.

You'd think this moron would have learnt from that. Instead, the org is still chasing 'shinies' and the fans are paying the cost.

He looks like a Little Bits character from Rick and Morty. Holy f***, ahahah.
