God Job on cleaning house Aquaman, better late than never. Next move in hiring a president or a gm is huge and must be done correctly.
 
What a putz. This calls for a 15 tweet twitter thread not another garbage slogan.
 
if he really wanted a new era he would sell the team so a new owner who doesnt want to play gm can hire staff that can do their job

Francesco unequivocally says he does not interfere in day to day hockey operations.

Where did you get this quote from? Did he really say that or this made up by somebody on twitter?

People will just hate no matter what but I thought Aquaman came across fine in that press conference.

Honestly I thought Smyl looked worse. Guy doesnt seem like the brightest bulb to put it mildly and he cannot be a guy addressing the media long term. When he said at the end of the Pittsburgh game he realized maybe he should share his opinion sometimes I thought GTFO this guy is a wilting flower.

Oh wow. I'll have to listen to it later. And people were screaming how it was PR101 that he come out and address Linden amicably parting ways with the club?

To be fair to him, I wouldn't call it meddling hiring Boudreau himself if he has decided to make changes to the GM and coach and isn't going to straddle the incoming GM with Boudreau (which given the contact doesn't suggest that it would be a problem). Perhaps Geoff Courtnall
 
I have very little faith in the Canucks being successful with Francesco as the owner. I don't think he'll ever get it because he won't self-reflect on his shortcomings. I've known and worked for a lot of people who were born into incredible wealth and every single one of them believe they're right all the time and will not take criticism. The generations who made the wealth are very different. (In my experience).

What HC is going to pull a Willie D and just finish out the season? You need an owner willing to pay that extra year.

but still, it’s aquaman own fault for shelling out most of the $5.5 mill to green, plus the $5 or so that BB is getting plus the assistants plus Walker. And giving JB 3 vs 2 year extension.

can’t ever complain about money being an issue when you blow money like he has. Could have cut bait in green for nothing in the off season. Jim too if he negotiated better.

mans that’s not even getting into the hockey signings of Eriksson, Ferland uninsured, Sven, Gagner to play in the A, etc.
 
Benning said he talked to FA almost everyday.

I’m not buying FA’s bullshit about staying out of hockey ops. He basically just hired the coach.

Would love to be wrong but I highly doubt the next Prez/GM will get to choose the direction of this team. He’s going to hire the guy who best sells him on “turning this team around in a hurry” just like Benning did

I think you missed my point. It's still not typical for HCs to go into the last year of his contract so effectively Boudreau is hired to coach out the year. If Boudreau is the HC of the Canucks next season he is getting an extension in the summer. I don't see how an incoming GM would be prevented from firing Boudreau.

Gillis signed AV to an extension when he decided to keep AV.

It will be interesting to see who they get. Usually he has someone lined up but not this time. Makes me wonder if a lot of top candidates are saying ‘No thanks’.

There’s little doubt in my mind he’s still aiming to win now. It’s why he brought in BB. I fully expect more of the same.

But I do like this coach better. So there’s that.

ok so this is where i admit that in my mind francesco sits in a private box at the top of the agrodome every night and watches as he forces smyl, delorme, gradin, cheech, hirsch, geoff courtnall, higgins, ryan johnson, jason king, benning, all those guys, to reenact old canucks games for his amusement

contractually, the sedins have to show up one night a week
