Official Francesco Aquilini Thread

I'm surprised the Aqulini family can even show their faces without shame at this point. I mean they must be hearing it from their own friends and family by now.
I can’t be the only one who envisions this scenario as completely the opposite, right? Aquilini is a silver spoon piece of shit who owns an NHL team just to own one and mess around with it like he’s any of us on NHL 22 franchise mode

The thing is, most people can make their franchise OP as f*** after around 5 seasons.
Don’t think I can say the same about awuaman

Hey don't group me in with your crowd! I still have my original Xbox with 07!

Before a lot of the comments on Canucks tweets were to fire Benning and Green, but now there are a lot of sell the team comments as well. He has no one to blame but himself after how he has ran this team, and still hasn't made any changes.

I can see your view but even this idiot must have a friend or family member saying WTF are you doing?? I mean it's painfully obvious something needs to change here you'd think someone anyone in his circle must be asking why he hasn't made a move. I know he's just a rich fool playing with his toys but with the amount of fans and media questioning Canucks something has to make this fool think. At least that is my hope.

Can we get a hat trick with the Aqualini family announcing that Francesco will be focusing on other ventures and will be hiring a President of Hockey Operations that will report to the family as a whole instead, but has full control.

The only sliver of hope I have under current ownership is that Francesco does not act with complete autonomy and that his role seemed to be under scrutiny this past summer. If there is any basis in fact around the rumours that Roberto and other senior people within the Aquilini Group are advocating for organizational change, then the hope is they recognize their greatest success came under a structured, progressive management team with the autonomy to execute their vision for the franchise.

It may be that having FA step back is insufficient. The lack of vision, the failure to invest where and when it could have turned the fortunes for the organization are surely an inditement of everyone who sat at the table and believed their was a short-cut to success.

Replacing Benning, Green, et al. with more competent personnel is imperative. It is ownership, however, that refuse a proper rebuild and rubber stamp, if not demand, personnel moves that kneecap the club long term in expectation of immediate playoff revenue and a belief that the players might catch fire and go deep despite the weakness of the roster. Benning accepted the terms ownership presented, doomed to fail from the start, worse still he has shown himself utterly incapable of meeting very modest expectations, be average or better, despite being given opportunity. It has lasted eight years because, unlike Gillis, unlike Nonis, the on-ice product is more a reflection of ownership's own failure.

Hiring Boudreau before hiring a GM is still a red flag here. Clearly ownership hired the coach, that doesn't exactly scream autonomy for the next guy coming in to replace Benning.
