No doubt. I don't disagree at all. Just the people and Apple themselves acting like this is brand new and amazing when people have been experiencing it for years. This has always been Apple, just do it better than everyone else.
Completely disagree. Microsoft Kinect was doing IR and dot scans for a long time. Like HawkFan pointed out though, they just do it better. And they are able to do it better by just doing your face. Kinect was doing everything in a room. It was quite capable of getting more detailed but again, got no support. However there were companies that unlocked this tech to do some really cool stuff with it but it wasn't mainstream. There was no need for it to be more detailed in the face. This is a phone. It's using tech that has been around for along time. It's just that it will hit more people because its an Apple iPhone.Except the facial tech that Apple is using is pretty easily the most advanced of any consumer product out there and it's not really close.
A bunch of people did mediocre face recognition before. The only device to really get it mostly right were the Windows 10 devices. This looks way far superior to that.
I don't see how any of this is "far superior". They are just making it more mainstream. Again, that's what Apple does and they are masters at it.
