This has always been Apple, just do it better than everyone else.
No doubt. I don't disagree at all. Just the people and Apple themselves acting like this is brand new and amazing when people have been experiencing it for years.

Except the facial tech that Apple is using is pretty easily the most advanced of any consumer product out there and it's not really close.

A bunch of people did mediocre face recognition before. The only device to really get it mostly right were the Windows 10 devices. This looks way far superior to that.
Completely disagree. Microsoft Kinect was doing IR and dot scans for a long time. Like HawkFan pointed out though, they just do it better. And they are able to do it better by just doing your face. Kinect was doing everything in a room. It was quite capable of getting more detailed but again, got no support. However there were companies that unlocked this tech to do some really cool stuff with it but it wasn't mainstream. There was no need for it to be more detailed in the face. This is a phone. It's using tech that has been around for along time. It's just that it will hit more people because its an Apple iPhone.

I don't see how any of this is "far superior". They are just making it more mainstream. Again, that's what Apple does and they are masters at it.

The ms version of face unlock works 25% of the time. I have a computer that uses the infrared light. Reports say the face id is very good.. Will be interesting to see

.

Disagree, they are acting like it's coming to a brand they prefer or have always owned.

While this stuff may have been out there, it was not widely adopted or worked all that well. There are people that simply won't own an android and MS's phones have pretty much bombed even though they are not bad.

And I will disagree that it didn't work that well. But when a company that owns close to 50% of all smartphones in the world puts something out there it becomes more known / accepted.

VR, face recognition, wireless charging... etc. has all worked very well in many different places. It was just never put or pushed so hard on an iPhone. There is a reason Apple fanboys have the nic-name "iSheep".

I am not saying this stuff isn't a big deal. It's a big deal for iPhone fans (myself included). But claiming this tech is something new and amazing or has never been around or has never been this good is just silly. Apple makes more practical and mainstream. That's it.

Anyways, the most exciting thing to me was the apple watch with cellular. Definitely will be getting that. I hate always carrying around my phone everywhere.

It's not. The X 256 GB is $1,149.00

Look at Apple's site if you want to confirm

The hands on previews from tech sites will start to roll out today, but I am somewhat torn on this

I'm not 100% sold on the FaceID, but the X seems like the way to go of the phones they showed today

I guess I'll wait to see what people have to say after playing with the phone
