It's like that with the fingerprint scanner too. You need the passcode to unlock when you first power it on.

In iOS 11, quickly pressing the power button 5 times also enables passcode unlocking before using your face or Touch ID. This is used as a security measure against law enforcement forcing someone to use their fingerprint or face to unlock a phone.

I like Apple and I like their products but people getting excited and them acting like using your face to unlock your phone, augmented reality and wireless charging are something new is funny to see.

I believe Microsoft phones (which were awesome but didn't get the support) did face recognition (iris scanner) and wireless charging before anyone else did. Pretty sure Nintendo was the first to used AR for games. I am just talking about big companies doing this stuff.

It took years for Samsung to catch up and now iPhone is doing it like its new.

Except the facial tech that Apple is using is pretty easily the most advanced of any consumer product out there and it's not really close.

A bunch of people did mediocre face recognition before. The only device to really get it mostly right were the Windows 10 devices. This looks way far superior to that.

The only thing that miffs me is the Qi and fast charge. That **** should've been in their phones years ago.

Yes.

If I were in the market for a new phone this year I'd get the 8 or 8+, mostly because of that chip.

I'm debating whether I want the 8+ or the X. Part of me wants to wait for the X form factor to mature for a year.
