Hey Alex @Appleyard,

How did I do, they only let you do four rounds?

Just finished drafting using Draft Prospects Hockey’s NHL Draft Sim.
Philadelphia Flyers
(7) Sam Dickinson, LD
(31) Zayne Parekh, RD
(34) Julius Miettinen, C
(54) Sacha Boisvert, C
(71) Andrew Basha, C
(103) Alfons Freij, LD

Draft Simulator using last year's order...
Basha at 71 is a steal! I really like him

I noticed Bob Mckenzie's list had Demidov sliding down the board to 6th. I personally view him as top 3 talent. And from list of rankings on elite prospects it seems like many independent sites agree. I think Demidov sliding to 6th in rankings comprised of an average of NHL scout rankings may indicate Demidov is likely to fall in the draft.

Demidov's IQ is slightly lower than Michkov's, but his puck skills and skating are pretty incredible. I think he is likely to be electric in the NHL. His game is a lot like Morgan frost, but from my viewings Demidov has a higher ceiling as goal scorer than Frost. As the flyers will likely be picking somewhere in the middle, I wanted to gage the sentiment towards double dipping on Russia prospects, and picking Demidov if he is available. Obviously you'd have to wait, but I think the rebuild would be done when Michkov and Demidov come over. The flyers have a solid young D core, solid goalie prospects, a ton of high end depth players. Add 2 electric forward talents like Michkov & Demidov and it is time to win. Thoughts?

Getting Demidov is unrealistic at this point.

Hage is starting to annoy me. It’s so hard to find guys I love in this draft.

I would not be surprised given how things are going if Flyers ended up picking ~12th.

Would be an interesting spot.

Celebrini, Catton, Lindstrom, Helenius
Eiserman, Demidov
Dickinson, Levshunov, Buium, Parekh, Silayev

is 11 guys... 11 guys who seem very likely to be gone by ~12.

Then a group of say ~25 guys who, tbh, most of whom could go as high as ~15 and as low as ~40 depending on team preference... though ofc the ~5 guys towards the front of the winger and D list especially most likely to be gone by ~15-18:

Misa, Boisvert, Hage
Brandsegg-Nygård, Iginla, Greentree, Artomonov, Connelly, Hemming, Chernyshov, Ritchie, Basha, Howe, Masse, Sennecke, Parascak
Jiricek, Yakemchuk, Kiviharju, Hutson, Mews, Shuravin, Muggli, Väisänen

I really think that with Russia barred from international play... there are going to be some steals in the next few drafts.

Russian players already have a mark against names and often means fall, now teams not able to/not watching them as much and struggling to "mark" them versus peers.

Especially the "2nd tier" guys. There is just often a clear bias amongst a lot of teams that they will value a North American kid over such Russian kids.

Wouldn’t be surprised if two of Iginla/Greentree/Connelly/Yakemchuk go top 10. McKenzie having Catton and Buium at 10 and 13 gives me some hope that one could drop a bit. I have no idea where we’ll end up picking though.

Thankfully every single draft, GMs in the top 10 reach on someone. If the Flyers draft 12, one of your top 11 will be there.

This won't be a popular opinion here, but I think the Flyers believe they need a big tough SOB on the blueline, and I agree with them. Obviously, the guy has to be able to play at least a shut down role. To me that looks like Charlie Elick with the Panthers pick barring a trade. Maybe even Will Skahan. Bonk has good size, but Drysdale and York are getting manhandled by some teams, and Sanheim and Zamula are not very physical. How much longer will they have Risto and Seeler? Walker is a goner at the deadline. They are probably not getting anything more than bottom 9 forward or bottom 4 defenseman with that pick, and Elick may be available and Skahan probably will be. Emery may fit there as well.

elick and emery are both undervalued imo because they dont have a ton of offense, so theres a chance one or both will be available in the 2nd round. elick was top 5 in a bunch of the skating trials at the top prospects game but emery is an even better skater, im just basing that off eye tests tho. they both stood out in their respective prospect games and both of them were involved in the offense, theyre just not PP1 guys but theyre not total dogshit offensively. if we can grab one of these guys with a 2nd round pick we're probably getting a solid NHLer.

I don’t think they last to our second round. The Panthers first is probably the spot. They may be available with the Columbus 2nd.

As of right now and where he should go? yes, unrealistic.

But when the draft gets closer? Russian Factor? Maybe Michkov encourages his buddy to ignore certain teams the way he did? All the sudden it’s not out of the realm of possibility he slides to a position where our pick + Florida’s pick + a 2nd could land him in Philly.

I thought noted shutdown guy Ronnie Attard was supposed to be our Cernak.
The just released updated assessment from our longwinded friend is that he has a bad slap shot with a big wind up that won’t work at the next level, so please do forget about any and all rosier projections from before.
