Then why is Catton perceived as small when he is basically the same height and actually destroyed Iginla in a fight?6' for a 17 year old is not small

Yes, he defends really well. Like Simashev last year too, probably better. I dont see the high end skill, thats the problem. I think you have to be a real gambler to look at Silayev and think "this guy has it in him to produce 50 points regularly".Putting aside the Russian factor and how soon or far of he is to being available for NHL teams— he’s a striking package of size, strength, mobility, offence and defence.
“He’s not as offensively gifted as, say, Chris Pronger at the same age and he’s not as physically intimidating and punishing as, say, Zdeno Chara was in his draft year [1996],” one scout said. “But he has shown that he combines elements of both of those guys.”
Another scout said: “If he’s as good as we think he is — geez, I really wish we could be there in the rink to see him live instead of just on video or getting reports from our Russian scouts — he’s going to be a No. 1 defenceman, maybe in the same sort of universe as a Victor Hedman. If he’s not quite what we think he is, with that size and mobility, I still think he’ll be really good top-pairing guy or outstanding 2-3.”
Silayev’s production in the KHL this season has tailed off after he scored one goal and six points in his first six games. He has scored another two goals and five points in his past 45 games. But he’s still playing significant minutes against older KHL competition and continues to demonstrate great mobility and solid puck skills for such a big man.
Five of 10 scouts surveyed by TSN listed Silayev at No. 2 and the lowest ranking he received was a No. 6

Zadorov went 16th OV... Silayev defends better than any defensemen in this draft, thats what he does better than everyone else and the most important duty of the D position, even Dickenson who still is really good at it. The offensive tools are a bit raw, but they are there and should get even better as he fills out.
I see him as a potential #1 defenseman, a general on the back-up.
Catton had shiners the day after but sure, destroyed. Then why is Catton perceived as small when he is basically the same height and actually destroyed Iginla in a fight?

Size gives you an advantage in playoffs. Especially for a team with lack of it.
That’s a dog’s breakfast of needs and I’m not sure those are as glaring as adding a C with size.Absolutely. That top 6 with Slaf, Dach and Lindstrom would mean business. Who knows, maybe Xhekaj develops into a top 6 role as well.
But, thinking of it, I really feel anyone in that top 10 fills a need for this team. We still need a RHD like Levshunov, as I'm not as high on Mailloux/Barron as some. We still a clear number 1 D like Dickinson/Silayev could be. We still need skill like Catton and top 6 scorers like Iginla/Demidov/Lindstrom. I just named 7 players meaning we’re pretty much guaranteed to get one of them. We're in a really good position this year.
All I stated was that Iginla is a 17 year old six footer. I wasn't aware of this was a conversation about Catton. Then why is Catton perceived as small when he is basically the same height and actually destroyed Iginla in a fight?
I was hoping it would be available with my next pickThe St.Louis Blues are really really proud to select in USHL... Sacha Boisvert!
"This guy is a talented shooting first C, drafting a young player need also a good development and we believe that with a good development, Boisvert will reach his full potential. All scouts in this room see top 6 C potential in him. I see that aswell, it's a perfect fit for the team".
"We have made a top 16 list and he is just in that spot, so we are all happy to draft a player who he is high in the list that all scouts work very hard all year long"
"We drafted based on talent, competitiveness and potential. Boisvert is exactly that type of prospect we wanted. He is talented, with high potential. We like his competitiveness. He just need to work on being more complete player, but he is only a 18 years old player, we have good staff to work with him and become a two-way, playmaking and shooting C we want to see in him. He is already a great shooter".

He's 17, listed 6' 186lbs. Ignila going to play around 6'1 205lbs. He's one of youngest players in draft. His father was 6'1 210lbs. Roughly same size.Again. Iginla is not his father. He is a small skill goalscorer too.
If you have choice between small skill and big skill, take the big. Can't disagree with that.

Just because Iginla's dad was a decent fighter, doesn't mean his son can scrap so Catton "destroying" him in a fight means nada. Then why is Catton perceived as small when he is basically the same height and actually destroyed Iginla in a fight?
Again. You are (intentionally) miscontruing my argument. If Iginla is "big", then how is Catton small if his measurements are extremely similar? All I stated was that Iginla is a 17 year old six footer. I wasn't aware of this was a conversation about Catton.
But hell by all means let's draft Catton because he beat Iginla in a fight.
Done - Nashville is up, @SOLR pm'edKings pick Igor Chernyshov, can someone PM next GM while I’m at work

Philadelphia Flyers are proud to select from Calgary Hitmen/WHL RD 6'3 194lbs Carter Yakemchuk
at 15 and this guy still around, easy choice
@KevSkillz4 your turn
Agreed. I'm betting Yakemchuk will get far more love on NHL draft lists than he's getting on public lists and this forum. Massive season in the Dub. I think he'll go ahead of several of the forwards we've been debating about as potential Habs picks. That's a really nice pick at 15. Good fit in Philadelphia for sure.
