I don't understand how Jiricek has 20 points in 19 AHL games, honestly. He's a good prospect, but nothing about him screams high end offensive tools.

I feel like watching him here today he’s got more stiffness than you’d typically see out of a guy putting up that type of offensive production.

Bet they’re missing the days of Carter Hart.

Yeah, he’s awkward and stiff. He’s a smart player so he can stay involved; he’s aggressive and rangy. He’s not without skill, but he holds his bottom hand really low, his short area work is a bit clumsy. I thought his potential was a modern defensive defenseman, maybe a top pair partner for a more dynamic player. My gut is his AHL scoring is misleading.

Buffalo is going to add an entire line of Kulich-Ostlund-Rosen to their current group. I didn’t even list Savoie who I think is a bit meh. If they drafted one of a few other guys at that spot, holy moly. Frankly, if I’m them, I’d sell on Savoie to get a known high end player. But they won’t.

Ask Hockey Canada. They didn’t invite him to camp.

He’s fine. Just never thrilled me as a top 10 pick (some people wanted him with the Flyers pick). He’s skilled, but I’m not sold on how skilled in a projectable way. His skating and total package didn’t wow me in small sample, and I know his analytics were oddly not great offensively. One of those guys I couldn’t easily project.

Another angle at it---I can see he makes use himself in a lot of the same ways that Dobson does. Slow (clumsy?) and deliberate passing and shooting but well made and executed choice, bomb slappers and bomb wristers. Still 18 years old only a month ago, he could sharpen up in similar fashion. This is also the only 2 periods I've seen of the kid.

Benjamin Gaudreau has an .868 save % in the OHL this season? How the heck did he get the starting job? His draft eligible teammate has better stats on his Sarnia team.
I'm not sure how Craig Button could possibly have compared this team to the 2005 team with goaltending this questionable.

Actually, scratch that. I know how: he's a f***ing moron.
