He was very solid for us in a limited sample size last season.

I agree with your statement 100%. I really liked him in the limited viewings we had.

General Question, not just in reply to the quoted Poster:
If the Leafs don't wave him do they go 11F 7D? Or how would they do it?

Tavares is interesting, wonder if he has been working on speed work a lot.

Somehow Rielly keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Timmins could be interesting at that weight, wondering how that'll look.

I know some of you will be very excited about this.

From the clips I've seen of him before he actually has decent hands + speed, not opposed to such a project if they have skill along with the size.

Looks mobile. like it. At 25 needs to have a very good AHL season.

In the absence of any other move, yes, that's my take on it. Robertson and Holmberg are both waiver exempt, send them down, Gambrell is destined for AHL anyways, doubtful he get claimed but oh well if so, plus one of the goalies down (Jones you assume, because you're not exposing Woll) and you're at 11-7, 20 man roster, cap compliant.

Keefe interview now.... Nylander will start camp at C. Nylander comfortable and onboard with it.

That is gonna be huge if true, I can see him and Jarnkrok being a nice duo

Knies - Matthews - Bertuzzi
Domi - Tavares - Marner
??? - Nylander - Jarnkrok
Reaves - Kampf - Lafferty

I can get behind that for sure, I just hope keefe has the balls to keep it and try it for an extended period of time

To me, Connor Timmins adding weight and getting above 200 pounds is huge. Hopefully all solid gym work, and the weight will help him in the Dzone.

Domi ... 208 at 5'10"... gained 14 pounds? Hopefully gym weight... that's not an insignificant weight at 5'10.

Bertuzzi gained 14 pounds too...

You've got to hope that Domi and Bertuzzi are being talked too, about playing a heavier game.

Tavares dropping some weight probably will help with the skating, which he said he's worked on in the offseason... probably good.

14 pounds off of Holmberg??? Was he chubby before and now in shape? I don't know.

Going to nickname Hildeby... House... or something...

Knies is a big boy.

I think Timmins is one of our more underrated assets. I've seen some people talk about waiving him to get under the cap and I think that's crazy, this guy could still end up a 2nd pair RHD.
i would have rather ran him every night and saved the money we spent on klingberg for something else (which could be a hot take that could age poorly and i would gladly admit it if i'm wrong)

Robertson at 3LW and I like those lines

i can't remember which leafs twitter guy said it but i saw a leafs twitter guy mention that if klingberg is on PP1, it's taking away shots from the guys who should be shooting the puck which made sense to me, so in my ideal world he's on PP2 and rielly stays on PP1 but who knows

It’s not a zero sum game with a set amount of shots available, Klingberg being a threat from the point opens up more space for the others to shoot. Maybe their total shots go down, but their unblocked high danger shots should go up if the other team is no longer safe to ignore the point and double team Matthews instead.

I have no doubt he will bring all of that.
IMO, he's looking long term. If he flames out here like he has in other cities he's going to start running out of destinations.
He's really at that point in his career where it's a crossroads. This is your hometown team and you're running out of options around the league, do or die.

Every time I see Mo's weight it just makes me wonder why he can't bully guys out there. 6'1" 225 with his build (massive in the legs and core) why the hell can't he just go out there and bulldoze guys. I know for a fact he's not 6'1" (I've saw him in person, but most players fraud their height anyway) but 225 is a ton of weight to throw around.

agreed, Klingberg on PP1 would make PP1 more dangerous. He's a viable shooting option which means that if you cover Matthews and Nylander and choose to leave Klingberg open he'll make you pay. I think they should put Nylander Tavares, Marner, Klingberg, Matthews on PP1. Knies, Bertuzzi, Domi, Rielly, Liljegren PP 2.

Clearly there will be experimentation with the PP. Klingberg will get his shot, Rielly will get his shot. At some point, they'll figure out what works best, and even then, there will be a rotation at times, based on who was on the ice last. Having different options could also make us harder to game plan against. It isn't important before even pre-season, to appoint one, or the other.

I legit shot from the point has always been the missing piece. Should make a great PP even better.

I really don't know what the love affair with Lafferty is. He's not gonna last in that kind of role.
He's got the speed, can put the puck in the net and can make some nice passes from time to time. I don't think Tavares and Knies is a good fit but he's the kind of player that can be a good complimentary piece to skill players.

"can put the puck in the net" seems very loosely used here. 12 goal career high... and that was last season. He's a good skater and with tools but there's no way he should be getting those minutes to me. He struggled with the Leafs last season.

He's got a pretty good shot. Which is why I said he can be a good complimentary piece to skill players. He's very similar to Jarnkrok in that sense and look how good Jarnkrok played next to Matthews and Marner last season when they needed him to step up. I wouldn't really call 6 points in 19 games struggling when he came here and was on a new line with new linemates every single game. When him and Kampf were pretty much set as linemates and got to consistently play together they looked good. Just go back and watch them in that Florida series.
